NEW 2820 HD NOTEBOOK

New Features

Radio Shack has announced the new Tandy 2820 HD notebook
computer (25-3553 $2,499.00). It is the third in Radio Shack's
award winning 80286 class and is almost identical to the popular
Tandy 2810 HD with major differences in only three areas:

1. LCD -- The VGA LCD display has been changed to a 1 to 1 aspect
ratio screen giving a 9" diagonal viewing area. This change will
give you a true view on graphics rendered images (circles will be
circles and not ovals).

2. RAM -- base memory remains at 1 MB and can be increased to
3 MB (25-3508 $399.95). We have found that most 286 users do not
expand beyond this point even with Windows-based products running
in standard mode.

3. Software -- The 2820 HD ships with MS-DOS 5.0 and the popular
DeskMate operating environment already installed on the 60 MB
hard drive. With DeskMate and DOS pre-installed, you do not have
to go through the time-consuming and sometimes confusing software
installation process. The system is ready to use straight from
the box.

Other Features Common With The 2810 HD

All other features and cosmetics are identical to the popular
2810 HD including:

1. A 16 MHz 80286 processor and optional 287XLT coprocessor
(90-2309). This high speed 80286 processor has proven itself
time and again to be an excellent choice for the majority of
notebook PC users. At this speed it outperforms many 16 MHz
386SX notebooks and can run Windows 3.0 software very well.

2. A removable Ni-Cad battery provides up to 3 1/2 hours of
portable operation (depending on LCD brightness and hard
drive usage). This is the same battery (25-3526 $99.95) used
in the 1500 HD, 1800 HD, 2810 HD, 3810 and 3820 HD. A battery
charger (25-3537 $229.95) will be available in February 1992
that allows external charging of one or two batteries. This
charger will require the use of the AC Adapter that comes with
the 2810/2820/3810/3820 HD computer.

3. A lightweight AC adapter allows 110v or 220v 50/60 Hz AC
operation.

4. A full-size 84-key keyboard with complete cursor control keys
and the exclusive Tandy Key-Switch which allows the <CAPS LOCK>
and <CONTROL> keys to be reversed for those who prefer a
typewriter-style keyboard.

5. A 19 ms 60 MB hard drive and 1.44 MB 3 1/2" floppy drive.

6. The availability of a 2400 bps modem (25-3525 $199.95) and a
2400 bps/9600 bps send FAX modem (25-3509 $249.95) lets you
choose the modem option that fits your requirements.

7. The Tandy Power View LED system is also featured. This allows
you to see the state of the battery LED and POWER LED even with
the LCD screen closed. This prevents accidentally leaving the
system turned on when closing it up for storage or transport.

Additionally, all the power savings features of the 2810 HD are
included. You can set the power savings modes that reflect your
mode of operation and optimize battery life. A RESUME mode is
also supported that allows the user to turn off the 2820 HD in
the middle of a program and return to the same spot at the next
power up.

8. The 2820 HD maintains the rugged construction, size and 6.7 lb
weight of the 2810 HD.

The 2820 HD has a one year limited warranty and lists for
$2,499.00.
