                                 LIST of FILES

                                  EPSONTP.EXE
                                  STARTP.EXE
                                  HPDESKJ.EXE
                                  PRINTERS.TXT

The three programs are DOS based, but might work via Windows, with some
software. Not all printer manufacturers provide details, in their
instruction manuals, of the ESC codes needed to select the various
inbuilt print styles available via DOS, and for programming. Many
computer operators are probably unaware of these inbuilt print styles,
and rely solely on the various Fonts available through the Windows
    Systems.

The EPSONTO.EXE is for the Epson compatible printers, the STARTP.EXE is
for Star LC-240 and NX-2460 printers, and the HPDESKJ.EXE is for HP
Deskjet series 500/600 printers. These should allow one to access many
of the functions of these type of printers. Remember, much of the
software available has a DOS Shell option, which should allow you to
change the printout settings, whilst using the software.

But beware, though the first two programs only produce a sample
printout of the settings if instructed, the HP Deskjet program
automatically produces a sample printout each time you change a
setting. Remember this if you are in in the middle of compiling a
letter etc! All three programs also list details of the ESC codes
involved, for use within some Software, if you check how to enter
these codes, form the relevant instruction manual, or Help screen.

                   Comments and suggestions always welcome.
