phonet can be called directly through windows or directly through dos.
there is no need to run anything but phonet.exe, ever!

- if there are any problems in Windows, please change the startup directory
(when the program is running) to your phonet dir.

                            OVERVIEW

This program is a useful utility for communicating in the same Lan
work group. this is a utility for Dos, for phoning in others in the
same Novell Server- it works in the background under windows as well as .
OS/2 (???).

calling:

Phonet USERNAME - will phone in that user, and will post a note on his
screen - saying the date and time of the phonet, and the user who initiated
it.

answering:

Phonet - will reply to that phone call.

if Phonet is run via windows, a dialog box comes up and asks you for
the user-name, if you want no-one, press OK.

Phonet uses IPX, and so a user is limited by the default amount of IPX
sockets available (refer to the shell.cfg doc. to increase the number). This
means that every user is limited to about 3-6 simultaneous without any
change to shell.cfg).

We've been using this utility in our net for quite some time - I hope
you will too...

I haven't tried Phonet 3.x under WFW, NT, or OS/2 2.0 (???) as yet - if
there are any problems - please contact me at:

-- In multi-server environments, please put phonet in one global directory
(we call our's - CONST:\UTILS\NET_BIN) where everyone has READ access.
Multi-server support will only work if Phonet exists in 1 single place on
  the NET...

-- as to the reported echo that exists in bridges, I haven't got one to debug
Phonet upon. If you send me a bridge- I promise to make it work...

-----

NOTE:
I am not a rich man, please send 15$ registry to the above address,
if you use PhoNET regularly on your net.

GOSH, people are so darn cheep.
