Hello everybody, this is a list of common used abbreviations in the computer
world. This means that I didn't catalog the standard abbreviations only, but
also the short terms for some program-names, company-names and often used
expressions. For each abbreviation there is a full name and (sometimes) an
explanation. These explanations are most of the time not given. So I would
appreciate it if you send me some comments or explanations about an
abbreviation. These comments may be maximum 6 lines, otherwise I get an
encyclopedia :).
The first pages are numbers of hardware components. After that, the list of
abbreviations follows.
Because I can't get the lists of the standards from ISO, IEEE, CCITT, ...
(you have to pay for them) I only added the numbers, in the appendix, that I
found in books and reports.
After the appendix, there's a list of abbreviations I couldn't find yet. If
you know what it means, please mail me. If you have a list of abbreviations,
with or without explanations, please send them to me, so we can make a good
reference for other people. Your name will be mentioned in
the "Thanks to"-list.

I hope this list helps you when you read a text and the author(s) expect you
to know every abbreviation they use. At least this was for me the reason I
started this list.

I split the list to make it easier to handle. These are the files you should
find in the directory :
