The MEGADSK.SYS file included on this diskette is the latest release of PC Enterprises Megaboard software. The most significant enhancement to this new release is that it permits you to create a ramdisk, then reboot your PCjr with either a warm boot (Ctrl/Alt/Del), or a Cartridge Reset (wiggle a cartridge in the cartridge slot), without losing the contents of your PCE Megaboard ramdisk! This offers significant improvement over prior releases because Megaboard users can now store information on their Megaboard ramdisk without concern that they may need to reboot their PCjr, thereby loosing all ramdisk information which has not been saved. To use the device driver, simply add the line: DEVICE=MEGADSK.SYS /* to your CONFIG.SYS file. This will cause all available PCE memory to be used as a Megaboard ramdisk. To limit the amount of PCE memory allocated to a Megaboard ramdisk, replace the /* with the actual amount of memory you would like to allocate. For example, the following CONFIG.SYS file will allow DOS to recognize 736KB of conventional memory, and also set up two 360KB drives (ramdisks) in PCE memory: DEVICE=JRCONFIG.SYS -L DEVICE=MEGADSK.SYS /360 DEVICE=MEGADSK.SYS /360 Of course, you will need a PCE Megaboard with adequate PCE memory to operate in this configuration. IMPORTANT NOTE: At times you may power down the PCjr in order to intentionally erase the contents of your Megaboard ramdisk. When this is done, you may need to keep your PCjr off for 20 seconds or more, before turning the power back on.
