This driver disk supports Windows 95TM, WindowsTM 3.1 or 3.11. We recommend that you install the version 4.00 driver disk. for all Windows versions. If you are an OS/2 user then install drivers from the OS/2 driver disk supplied. If you are using Windows 95TM then DO NOT install the Windows Drivers from the version 2.0 disks. If you did install the version 2.0 disks then run A:UNINSTAL.EXE from the Ver. 2.0 disk 1. Now install the Ver. 4.00 disk. Windows 3.x users can install either version of the drivers, but if you upgrade from Ver. 2.0 to the Ver. 4.0 or if you upgrade from Windows 3.x to Windows 95TM in the future, then be sure to run A:UNINSTAL.EXE from the version 2.0 disk 1. Then install the version 4.0 drivers. The manual that is shipped in this box is for version 2.0. Much of the material in the manual will still apply. Differences between Version 2.0 and Version 4.0 The drivers are now on one disk. (The Version 2.0 has 2 disks) Ver. 4.0 drivers support Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and 3.11. (Ver. 2.0 supports only Windows 3.x) Ver. 4.0 drivers now support Full Duplex (Lets you record and play sounds at the same time). In order for full duplex to be enabled be sure that the Mix Wave/Synth box does NOT contain an [x]. You will find this setting in the Mixer area of the DSP Audio Control utility. You can also make permanent changes in the driver SETUP - OPTIONS area.. (in SETUP-OPTIONS this is labeled Mix Wave/MIDI). See note below for information on how to get to the SETUP area. * The Lotus Sound utility in Ver. 2.0 has been replaced by DSP Sound Station in Ver. 4.0. Text to Speech drivers are not included on the version 4.0 driver disk. If you installed version 4.0 and want text to speech capability as described in the manual, then you can install them from the Version 2.0 disks. Run a:install from the Ver. 2.0 disk 1 and select Custom Install. (Never do a FULL INSTALL) Select the Windows and/or DOS Text to Speech as required and install. DO NOT select and install WINDOWS DRIVERS if you have the Ver. 4.0 drivers installed. There are 24 sample .WAV files on the Ver. 2.0 disks that are not on the Ver. 4.0 disk. You may install these from the Ver 2.0 disk also if you wish. Run a:install from the Ver. 2.0 disk 1 and select Custom Install. (Never do a FULL INSTALL) Select sound files and click OK. DO NOT select WINDOWS DRIVERS if you have the Ver 4.0 drivers installed. The DSP Audio Control utility is now included. This lets you change settings such as record level, volume level, etc. Windows 95 Installation Instructions: Start Window 95 Go to START and select RUN. Place the Ver. 4.00 driver disk in drive a: Type a:install in the Open field and click OK. Follow the on screen instructions and complete the install. (Note: The title bars on the installation screens and the README.TXT file in the Ver. 4.00 disk will indicate Release 2.1, this is correct) * If you make changes to your system or sound does not seem to be operating properly then it may be necessary to run the driver SETUP. In Windows 95 you can access the SETUP by following this sequence: Start - Control Panel - Multimedia - Advanced - Double click on Audio Devices then select Audio for Parallel Device - click Properties - Change options if needed and click SETUP. Restart Windows 95. Windows 3.x users can access SETUP in the Control Panel - Drivers area. Please note our new address and phone numbers below.
