MASK Version 2.4, 1995 Sep. 05: This version has a few bugs on one of its encryption methods. For that reason some encrypted files will hang the system (the probability is something like 20-25%...). Before using MASK 2.4 you should always backup original files. At the date this version was made (September 1995) there was no debugger I could use to find out what was wrong (MASK is very unfriendly to Soft-ICE). This version was released only to one or two BBS and the project was terminated. Version 2.4 contains a special trick to detect if a debugger is present. This trick has a side effect: MASK 2.4 will crash or reboots the system if executed inside DESQview ;) This particular copy was send to suddendischarge.com by request of the Archivist. MASK Version 2.5, 1999 December: On present day, all of this bugs have been removed. MASK 2.5 Build 1299 should be available soon for beta testing. The final product, MASK 2.5, should be available by the beginning of January 2000. What's new on this version? The encryption engine was completly rearranged and is fatal to every debugger and tracer I know (Soft-ICE, Soft-ICE/W, TR, TRW, LTR, TD, TRON, UNP, CUP, Decay, GTR, TPCX, X-OPEN, QA, Action Replay, ... etc.) Old versions, starting with Version 2.0, should be available at: http://www.suddendischarge.com/Encryptors.html Jos‚ M.
