Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the EXE-mailing-list. 27. 9.1998 Q: What is the EXE-mailing-list? A: The EXE-mailing-list is a mailing-list for EXE/COM - packers, protectors, unpackers and detection-tools. All new stuff is send via this mailing- mailing-list, e. g. HackStop, CrackStop, MESS, TEU, GTR, ChkEXE etc. All things send via this list must be public releases. Q: How can I join the list? A: You can either use the form on my Homepage (http://members.xoom.com/hanno) or you can send an eMail to exelist-subscribe@egroups.com If you want to unsubscribe, send an eMail to exelist-unsubscribe@egroups.com Q: Can I give the visitors of my Homepage the possibility to join the list? A: Yes, that's possible. Just include the following html-code on your page:
If you want to link to the archive of the EXE-Mailing-List, link to http://www.egroups.com/list/exelist If you want to link this FAQ, link to http://members.xoom.com/hanno/exefaq.txt Q: What language is used on the list? A: We only use English. Although there are many german users on the list, it should be for everyone and English is the only worldwide known language. Q: How can I send stuff to the list? A: You must send your files to exelist@bigfoot.de You should use a common sending format, like MIME, UUEncoded or BASE64. For the files you can use the common packing-formats ARJ, ZIP, LZH or RAR. Or you can use SFX-files. Q: Should I only send things written by myself? A: No, if you've got something new written by someone else, you can also send it. Q: May I also send debuggers and disassemblers? A: No, I don't think that they belong on this list. But anyway, I think many people on this list are interested in this stuff, so you might send the location of such programs in a short message. Q: What is about cracked versions of other programs? A: Please don't send cracked versions of other programs, there is no use for most of us, if we need them, we can crack them ourselves. Q: Can I send requests for programs to the list? A: Normally the answer is no. If you are sending a file to the list, you can write your request in the mail. But I don't like mails that are only send because of a request. Q: Are there any similar mailinglists? A: There's a CrackMe-mailinglist from zLANz (zLANz@gmx.net) and an Anti- Virus-mailinglist from Ralph Roth (RalphRoth@gmx.net). Ask them for more information. That's all. I had to make some rules. If someone is not accepting these rules after some warnings, he might be removed from the list. Sorry, but I have to keep this so strict. ********************************* * Hanno Boeck
