TITLE: Converting the WPWin 5.2 Supplemental Dictionary to
                 WPWin 6.0
PRODUCT: WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows

Problem
You want be able to use your supplemental dictionary from
WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows in WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows.

Concept
You will need to convert the supplemental dictionary from WPWin
5.2 into a format that WPWin 6.0 can use.

Solutions
There are two ways to convert the WPWin 5.2 supplemental
dictionary. You can either run the SPELL.EXE utility to convert
the file from 5.2 to 6.0 format, or you can manually add the
words in the WPWin 5.2 dictionary to the WPWin 6.0 supplemental
dictionary.

(Note: All file locations mentioned here are default locations;
actual file locations may differ depending on your particular
setup.)

Method 1
Run the SPELL.EXE utility on the WPWin 5.2 dictionary to convert
it to WPWin 6.0 format.

Note: You cannot use the SPELL.EXE utility that was shipped on
the WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS utility disk. Doing so will convert
your .LEX files (main dictionary files) to a version 2 format,
which is only used by WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS. You should only
use the SPELL.EXE file that was shipped with WordPerfect 6.0 for
Windows; it is version 3.

1 Start WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows.

2 Retrieve the WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows Supplemental
dictionary (WP{WP}US.SUP). It is normally saved in the \WPC
         directory.

The message Conversion in Process appears. You are retrieving a
WPWin 5.2 document into WPWin 6.0, so it will take a short while
for the document to be converted.

When the conversion is complete,

3 Rename and resave the dictionary file as a document in
         WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows format.

4 Close WordPerfect and go to a DOS prompt.

5 Change to the \WPC20 directory.

6 Type SPELL.EXE at the DOS prompt.

The Spell utility will begin.

7 Select Create Supplemental Dictionary (U).

8 Type the filename you named the file in step 3 in the 6.0
Filename box, then press Tab or Enter.

9 Type the WPWin 6.0 supplemental dictionary filename in the
Supplemental Filename box. Note: The default is
C:\WINDOWS\WPSPELUS.SUP. Press Enter when you have typed
         the name.

10 Choose OK.

The conversion will begin. It make take a short while to convert
the file. When the conversion is complete,

11 Press Exit (F7) to exit the Spell utility.

Method 2
Spell-check the WPWin 5.2 supplemental dictionary in WPWin 6.0,
and add all the words that the Speller shows as incorrect.

1 Retrieve the WPWin 5.2 .SUP file into WordPerfect 6.0 for
         Windows.

2 Choose Speller from the Tools menu.

By default, it will spell-check the entire document.

3 Verify that the dictionary listed under Add To is
WPSPELUS.SUP (or your particular supplemental dictionary),
         not the Document Dictionary.

Each time the Word Not Found dialog box appears,

4 Choose Add.

When Speller has finished checking the document, you will have
added all of the words in your WPWin 5.2 supplemental dictionary
to your WPWin 6.0 supplemental dictionary.
