LE8029R DRIVER INSTALLATION FOR NETWARE 3.12 =========================== Installing the Adapter in a NetWare 386 v3.12 File Server ============================================================== a. **** Load LAN driver **** After the following tasks have been done, use LOAD LAN driver to link the appropriate drivers with the network boards installed in the file server. * Run SERVER * Load loadable modules for the disk drivers * Load INSTALL Load LAN drivers Command format :LOAD [path LAN_driver [driver_parameter..] Command parameters Path Replace path with a full path; begin with a DOS drive letter or a NetWare volune name. If you do not specify a path and the SYS volume is mounted, the operating system assumes that the loadable LAN driver module is located in the SYS:SYSTEM directory. LAN_driver All NetWare 386 loadable LAN drivers end with a .LAN extension. The loadable LAN driver module included in the driver diskette is located in the subdirectory \NW312. For easy installation, you may copy the module to the drive containing SERVER.EXE, either the hard disk or diskette. Driver_parameters Most drivers use one or more of the following parameters. DMA=number FRAME=name INT=number MEM=nember NAME=board name NODE=number PORT=number RETRIES=number SLOT=number Please refer to NetWare 386 System Administration manual for the detail definition of each parameters. * The LAN driver prompts you for required parameters (not optional) if you do not specify them on the command line. * The LAN driver does not prompt you for optional parameters; the default values are coded into the driver. To modify the default value, you must specify the new value at the command line when you load the driver. b. **** Bind the protocol to the LAN driver **** NetWare 386 allows protocols other than IPX to function on the network. The steps below use IPX for an example protocol to bind each LAN driver in the file server. Command format BIND protocol [TO] LAN_driver | baord_name [driver_parameter..][protocol_parameter..] 1) Bind IPX to the LAN driver. Replace the protocol with IPX. Replace LAN_driver with either the name of the driver you loarded for the netowrk board or the board name you assigned when you loaded the driver. Include a driver parameter when you have more than one netowrk board of the same type in the server. You do not need driver parameters if you bind a protocol to a board name rather than a LAN driver. Use protocol_parameter for the parameters unique to the communication protocol. IPX has one, NET. 2) Assign the network number. NET=number Identifies a unique network number for the cabling system attached to the board. Each LAN driver must be assigned the network number that identifies the cabling system to which it communicates with similar LAN drivers on the network.
