************************************************* * Installation for SCO UNIX Stream Driver * ************************************************* A. Prepare a formatted diskette on any DOS machine. For example, type: C>format a: Note: Make sure your diskette is bad sectors free. Verify this by using the DOS CHKDSK command B. Run F2DISK.COM to generate an Installation Diskette for the UNIX system. (a) During the "f2disk" command, the following message will show on screen: "Target drive letter (press 'A' or 'B'):" Press 'A' for the first drive, 'B' for the second drive. "Insert a formatted diskette into drive ('A' or 'B')" (b) After the front messages pass by, the following message will likely show on screen: Please choose one of the following selection items: 1 - 360 K, 5.25" 2 - 720 K, 3.5" 3 - 1.2 M, 5.25" 4 - 1.44 M, 3.5" 5 - None of the above (c) Then "f2disk" will load the data file "unixdrvr.tar" into memory and display the following messages: "Restoring UNIXDRVR.TAR file on drive ('A' or 'B')" ...... "Please remove the diskette from drive ('A' or 'B')" Please wait for a while, and the UNIX Installation Diskette will be created. Note that the diskette has been made in UNIX tar format; so, it cannot be read by DOS. C. Remove the UNIX Installation Diskette. To install the Streams driver, follow the instructions given below: D. Login to the SCO UNIX system as root. E. Insert the UNIX driver diskette created by 'f2disk'. Make sure that the floppy drive where diskette is inserted is "fd0". FD0 is the default floppy drive where the custom utility looks for the driver and the installation script. F. Choose "install" option. Select "A new product" installation. The entire product must be installed. Therefore, select "Entire Product" option. G. Quit from the custom utility after the installation is completed by the custom utility. H. Start the netconfig utility by typing netconfig. Netconfig utility will be used to configure the UNIX driver for different INT, DMA and I/O base address. This utility is also used to add the driver to the protocol chain. I. Select option 1 - Add a chain. J. Select the protocol stack. K. Select the number for Ethernet driver. L. Answer all of the other questions which are asked by netconfig. Please refer to the netconfig documentation provided by SCO. M. Finally, exit from the netconfig to relink the kernel and to reboot the UNIX system. The installation for the SCO UNIX driver is now complete.
