==================================================== = CN100TX(B) PCI-BUS FAST ETHERNET ADAPTER = = Driver Installation Procedure = = >>> Windows for Workgroups 3.1 = ==================================================== The WfW 3.1 driver files are in the \WFW31 subdirectory of this diskette. 1. Insert this driver disk into drive A: or B:. 2. Run Windows for Workgroups 3.1. The Main window will show up. 3. Click the Control Panel icon, then click the Network icon. 4. A new window shows up which includes an Adapter button. Click it. 5. In the Network Adapter window, choose the Add button to append a new network driver. 6. If the window title is "Install New Network Adapter", please highlight "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter" and click OK. 7. The next window will request the user to input the drive and path for installation. Key in the appropriate drive with path \WFW31. 8. WFW31 will display the name of the driver. Please select the "CNet CN100TX(B) Fast Ethernet Adapter" and click OK. 9. In the Network Adapter window, choose the Setup button. Then, click the Advanced button in the "CNet CN100TX(B) Fast Ethernet Adapter" window. 10. Highlight the SIA mode item and choose the value equal to AUTOSENSE, TP, TP_FULL_DUPLEX, or TP_LINK_DISABLE. The value of Slot Number mode should be equal to or greater than 16. If there are two network adapters on board, please keep the value of SIA mode of the first adapter to 16. The second one changes to 17. After pushing the set button, click the Set button and close the window. The other option is Data Rate which user could select the 10 or 100 Mbps on transmission/receiving. **NOTE: Choose AUTOSENSE when the CN100TX will be attached to a Half-Duplex or Auto-Negotiation device. The driver will automatically set the correct line speed and operating mode. (Refer to the User's Manual or the README.1ST file's "Auto-Negotiation with the Attached Device" section for details.) If the link partner is a Full-Duplex device, the TP_FULL_DUPLEX option and the correct Date Rate MUST be set. 11. Close the Network Adapter window and click OK to make sure that Windows for Workgroups 3.1 reconfigures PROTOCOL.INI. 12. Reboot. LIMITATION for DOS VERSIONS PRIOR TO 6.22 -- Before rebooting the computer, EMM386.EXE should be unloaded if the DOS version is prior to 6.22. Otherwise, starting the network driver will cause trouble within the binding process. ###
