                  NDIS 2.01 Drivers Installation Notes

  Artisoft LANtastic /AI
  ----------------------

  To install LANtastic AI version 5.0 as a DOS NDIS workstation, DOS
  must be installed on the target workstation C: drive, or you must have 
  a bootable DOS floppy.  Follow these steps:

  1. Insert the LANtastic /AI Disk #1 of 2 in drive A.

  2. Type INSTALL/DOS and press [Enter] at the prompt for a DOS client 
     installation.
  
  3. Enter your machine name (up to 15 characters) when prompted and press
     [Enter].

  4. The install program appears with a list of options for your workstation. 
     Select the default configuration, including the 3Com 3C503 
     EtherLink II network adapter.
 
  5. Scroll down and highlight the option Perform Installation, 
     and press [Enter]. 
     
  6. Remove Disk #1.

  7. Insert Disk #2 in drive A when prompted and press [Enter].    
     Once the program is done copying files, a message appears
     saying that the installation is complete. Exit to DOS.

  8. Copy all the files from the root directory of the NDIS Support for
     LANtastic diskette to the C:\LANTASTI subdirectory that was created  
     by LANtastic during installation in the previous step.

  9. Copy the ELPC3.DOS NDIS driver from the EtherDisk diskette's 
     \NDIS\DOS subdirectory to the C:\LANTASTI subdirectory.

 10. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file to include the following two lines anywhere 
     in the file:
                    
         DEVICE=C:\LANTASTI\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\LANTASTI
         DEVICE=C:\LANTASTI\ELPC3.DOS
     
     Save the file and exit.

  
 11. In the \LANTASTI subdirectory on the C: drive, edit the STARTNET.BAT file
     and modify the adapter driver.  Change the lines:

         3C503MM                   to:       AI-NDIS BIND_TO=ELINKPC3
         AILANBIO                  to:       AILANBIO
         REDIR WS_NAME LOGINS=2    to:       REDIR WS_NAME LOGINS=2

     Save the file and exit.
 
 12. In the LANTASTI subdirectory, edit the PROTOCOL.INI file to include 
     a section for the EtherLink/PCMCIA adapter.  After the lines:
       
        [PROTMAN]
          DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$
          DYNAMIC = YES

     Add the two lines:
        
        [ELINKPC3] 
          DRIVERNAME=ELPC3$
      
     Save the file and exit.

  13. Remove the diskette and reboot the computer.
                      
  14. From the C:\LANTASTI directory type STARTNET and press [Enter].  The
      workstation/server is now ready for communication to other LANtastic 
      workstations/servers.
