Good News
---------

This version of TrayMeter comes as freeware which means that
there is absolutely no charge for it. Upcoming versions may
not be freeware.

--------------------
Welcome to TrayMeter
--------------------

I wrote TrayMeter for those people who want to know what's
going on inside their computers. It shows the current CPU
usage as a little chart inside the Windows Taskbar also known
as Tray.

-------------------
System Requirements
-------------------

- A computer running Microsoft Windows 95

- Right now, I can't make any promises about TrayMeter's
ability to run under new Windows NT 4.0
(Although Windows NT 4.0 has a Tray I don't know whether
it meets TrayMeter's other needs, e.g. certain keys in
  the Registry)

- TrayMeter does not run under Windows NT Version 3.51 or
below since there is no Tray available.

--------------------
How to use TrayMeter
--------------------

See below for informations about installing TrayMeter.

When you run TrayMeter the first time you will notice a small
chart in the Tray. While running other programs you can see
some peaks that indicate a higher CPU usage.

To have TrayMeter showing a menu click with the right button
of your mouse inside the chart (this is the normal behaviour
of Windows 95). Select "Properties for TrayMeter" to open
the main window.

Right here you can determine the time between updates of the
chart. The default value is 0.5 seconds. To change the
default press "Set Default". The new value is immediately in
use and will also be used when you start TrayMeter next time.
If you have not pressed "Set Default" the new setting is for
this session only.

To exit TrayMeter press "Exit", to hide the main window
press "Hide".

--------------------
Installing TrayMeter
--------------------

1. Create a new folder somewhere on your harddisk.

2. Copy the "traymete.exe"-file to this folder. (I am pretty
sure you have de-compressed the Zip-file, otherwise you
are a real genius who can read compressed Readme-files.)

3. Run "traymete.exe".

4. If you want to have a short-cut under the "Start"-button
   follow these steps:

4.1. Use the right mouse button to click on "Start".
	4.2. Choose "Open".
4.3. Doubleclick to the "Programs" folder (left mouse
             button).
4.4. Go to an existing folder or create a new one (Go
to the "Startup" folder, if you
want to startup TrayMeter together with
             Windows).
4.5. Click with the right button inside the chosen
             folder.
	4.6. Choose "New" and "Shortcut".
4.7. "Browse" to the "traymete.exe" and select it.
             "Open" it. Click "Next".
4.8. Type a name for the shortcut. (TrayMeter would
             be a suitable name).
	4.9. Press "Finish".

----------------------
Uninstalling TrayMeter
----------------------

1. Remove "traymete.exe" and the folder you have created
under topic (1) of "Installing TrayMeter" from your
   harddisk.

2. Remove the shortcut if you have created one.

3. For experienced users only: You can delete the following
key and all its subkeys in the Registry (use RegEdit):

   "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/TrayMeter".

WARNING: Unappropriate use of "RegEdit" can cause major
   damage.

--------------
Known Problems
--------------

- Since I use three icons to display the chart you can see
two small lines between the icons. (I don't know an
"offical" way to display a non-icon object in the Tray)

- TrayMeter doesn't look good when you have your Tray in
vertical position and the chart is tiled into two rows.

- The main window is displayed for a very short period of
time when you start TrayMeter. (Will be fixed in next
  version)
