What this program is all about
Our tutorial is a very interactive multimedia Web publishing tutorial.
It will teach you everything you need to know to produce dynamic interactive Web
pages from start to finish. It does not assume that the user knows anything about
Web pages or their associated HTML markup language. It is geared both to the absolute
beginner all the way to users who already know a great deal. Full instruction on text
formatting, paragraphs, using images, making different types of links, incorporating
graphics, tables, frames, multimedia, and all other aspects of Web publishing. Very
helpful examples provided throughout to make it very easy to learn. Fun colorful screens
and humor make it enjoyable to use and learn in a non-technical way.

We produce three different registered editions of this program depending on the end
user's needs. Fees: Standard Edition $29.00, Professional Edition $59.00, and our premiere Developer Edition at $129.00 Full details on the provisions of each version and ordering instructions can be found within the program and on the program's info page on the World
Wide Web at http://www.bcent.com/html.html

System requirements

An IBM or compatible system running Windows95 or NT 4.0 or later.

8 MB of RAM is recommended for the operating system and program's runtime.
NT users should be equipped with 16+ MB of RAM for the additional operating system
 requirements.

A decent video card able to display at least 256 colors at a minimum of a 640x480 resolution.

A sound card capable of playing .wav files

A printer, should the user wish to print any documentation

Installed Web browser like Netscape Navigator 3.0+ or Microsoft Internet
Explorer 3.0+ is recommended to practice code examples and observe results.

The following True Type fonts must be installed on the user's machine in order for this
program to display properly: Arial, Times New Roman, and Wingdings. These are part of any standard Windows installation. These fonts and more with extended character sets are
available from Microsoft's Web site at http://www.microsoft.com

Running this program on a Windows NT 4.0 machine

A few issues have been noted with this program when installed and run on
a Windows NT machine. These have been sporadic and not consistent from machine to
machine.

One problem noted is the poor refresh of graphics on the screen, especially
when color palettes are changed in the program. The graphics appear to be washed out
or as if not enough video memory is being allocated to the active window. This problem
can be corrected by simply giving the window focus again by using the taskbar and clicking
on the program's minimized icon. This is simply an irritation rather than a malfunction,
and we hope to put out a maintenance release soon which will resolve this.

Second, the product's installation program may or may not create a program group,
even though it is telling you otherwise. We suspect this has to do with NT's native
architecture and method of creating user groups and permissions. No correction for this
is in sight at the time of this writing.

Oddly, these problems had occurred more often on the author's system than any
of the beta testers. :-)

These problems may or may not occur on a Windows 95 machine. So far we have not
seen this happen and the program seems to run optimally within that environment.

How to install and use this program

Running SETUP.EXE from the main distribution files will begin an easy installation program, allowing the user to choose a program group and destination directory. Lastly, it
will prompt the user whether or not he wishes to run the main executable HTMTUTOR.EXE

Using the program is simple with a mouse. Clicking on objects and icons, using
scroll bars and easy navigational tools make the program a pleasure to use. Handy
quick-menu allows users to jump to main sections of the program and other important
sections for reference and review. This program also runs in full-screen mode.

See the next section below.

All of the files necessary to operate this program will reside in the directory
you choose for installation. The program will not inevitably write files and .dll's all
over your system.

Runtime recommended taskbar settings

Because this program runs in full-screen mode, the following taskbar settings are recommended. These settings are recommended at any time, because they allow the user more
control and screen space when working with multiple open applications.

Right-click on an unoccupied area of the taskbar (located at the bottom of the
screen by default)

Choose "Properties"

A dialog box will pop up with check boxes.

Select "Auto-Hide" and "Always on Top"

Click "Apply"

Now the taskbar will always remain hidden yet very available by simply moving the
mouse to the bottom of the screen.

These settings are recommended to enable the user to run multiple applications
easily. This is beneficial with this product so that switching from one application to
the other will be easier.

Alternatively, by holding down the ALT key and using the TAB key in sequence,
the user may switch to running applications, whether or not these taskbar settings are
enabled.

If you find an error or bug in the program

There are more than likely errors that you may find in the program. Functional
errors, spelling errors, maybe even display problems or code errors may be found. Although
we have made every effort to avoid these, they may be found nonetheless. If so, we would appreciate hearing from you so that we can continue to make a better-quality product in the future.
