What's a pupik?
----------------

Pupik is the Yiddish word for bellybutton.

------------------------
Why, that's very funny!
------------------------
Pupik is an itsy-bitsy command-line window. It works with
Windows 95, and probably with NT 3.5 and above too, although
I haven't tested it with NT. It works pretty much like
clicking Start=>Run..., except:

  - You can type MS-DOS commands in the lil' thang
    as well as Windows commands.
  - It can remain on your screen all the time, if
that's really what you want. Put it in your StartUp
group if you want. Pick at it.
  - You can enter Internet URL addresses to open up
your Web browser, if you have a snazzy browser like
Netscape or Internet Explorer. (Well, Start=>Run...
can do that too, but who knew?)

-----------------------------
What do I need to run Pupik?
-----------------------------
This version of the archive (SM-Pupik.ZIP) does not contain the
Visual Basic Runtime file VB40032.DLL. This means that the archive
you downloaded your Pupik offers VB40032.DLL for download. If
your Pupik will not start on your system, please return to your
software archive and fetch VB40032.DLL and copy it into your
Windows\System directory.

-----------------------------
How do I play with my Pupik?
-----------------------------

Typing something into the window and pressing the Enter
key will do the following:

If... you type an MS-DOS command (eg. DIR or COPY or DEL)
then... it will open a DOS window and run your command.

If... you type "X:"
then... it will open a DOS window and switch to drive X:

If... you type "X:\" or "X:\FOLDER"
then... it will open up an Explorer window of that drive or
        folder.

If... you type a UNC path name (eg. "\\Server\Volume")
then... it will open up an Exporer window of that path

If... you type an Internet URL (eg. "http://www.kghc.org")
then... it will try to open your Internet browser

If... you type "exit", or, more politely, "bye"
then... it will leave your life

If... what you type doesn't fall into any of the above
        categories
then... the Pupik will assume that what you typed is
the name of a DOS or Windows program and will try
        to run that program.

If you press the ESC key, the Pupik will minimize itself.

    other windows.

minimize itself when you successfully run a command.
The Pupik will START minimized if this option

Gosh, what do I owe you?

You can't possibly imagine. However, I suppose that $5
(five bucks U.S.) will suffice. Send it right on to:

Oh, and who's that guy in the program icon?
--------------------------------------------
Fidel Castro. Because he has a pupik too.

Yours truly,
David
