	GETTING STARTED

	1. Read through the help files;

	2. Aquaint yourself with the FILE, DESIGN and HELP MENUS;

	3. Fill in the AREA information FIRST, remember the
	VENTILATION and INFILTRATION FIELDS are filled in
	automatically (Ref: HTM & HTMC HELP)

	4. Fill in the requested information in the HTMC FIELDS;

	5. Fill in the DESCRIPTION and DESIGNED FOR FIELDS;

	6. Press CALCULATE;

	7. You can edit any field by DOUBLE CLICKING ON IT, then
	just type in the new information;

	8. If your designing for multiple zones SINGLE CLICK on
	DESIGN in the MENU BAR, then select the next zone to edit
	and repeat steps 1 thru 7;

	9. When you have finished SINGLE CLICK on FILE in
	the MENU BAR, you can now select an output to disk or
	printer.

	These few steps will get you started, however, it is highly
	recommended that you review all the help files and take some
	time to aquaint yourself with LOADCALC PLUS. Spending some
	time to learn LOADCALC PLUS will allow you to take full
 	advantage of its powerful design potential.

	Lastly, remember that LOADCALC PLUS is a WINDOWS based
	software package, it will run fine on 386 25Mhz class PC's
	and up, it will also run on slower PC's, but performance
	will be greatly degraded.Those of you familiar with WINDOWS
	and software applications running in WINDOWS already
	understand keyboard and mouse control of such programs,
	those of you that don't, READ YOUR WINDOWS MANUAL.

	Area Help

	The information requested for the area fields is
	self-explanatory.The NET FIELDS are automatically
	calculated based on information you input in the first
	seven fields under the area column.

	The VENTILATION/INFILTRATION and cooresponding HTM
	and BTUH FIELDS are automatically calculated based on
	information input in the AREA and HTMC FIELDS, refer to
	the HTM and HTMC HELP SCREENS for additional discussion on
 	determining these values.

	BTUH Help

	The BTUH FIELDS are all calculated automatically, they
	require no input on your part.

	DUCT LOSS Help

	Heat loss from ducts depends on duct C.F.M., duct size and
	shape, insulation, shape, velocity, length of the run,
	tightness of the duct construction, and temperature
	difference across the duct wall. Since none of these are
	known until after the system has been designed,	the following
	procedure is recommended:

	A. Ignore heat loss for ducts located within a conditioned space;

	B. Use the table provided when you DOUBLE CLICK on the DUCT
	LOSS HTM FIELD.

	Consult the HTM HELP SCREEN for details on selecting HTM values.

	FILE Help

	SINGLE CLICK on FILE in the MENU BAR, then SINGLE CLICK on
	OPEN / DELETE or SAVE FILE. If you select OPEN / DELETE a
	new window will open with a DIRECTORY and FILE LIST BOXES.
	You can now select a directory from the DIRECTORY LIST BOX
	by DOUBLE CLICKING on your choice, the file list will appear
	in the FILE LIST BOX on the left. SINGLE CLICK on the file
	of your choice, then SINGLE CLICK on OPEN or DELETE, the
	file will be handled according to your choice and you will
	be automatically returned to the ZONE SCREEN you were working
	on. You will also note that there is a DRIVE SELECTION WINDOW,
	SINGLE CLICKING on it will allow you to select another drive.

	Saving files is accomplished in much the same way, SINGLE
	CLICK on SAVE FILE, a window will open with DIRECTORY and
	FILE LIST BOXES, SINGLE CLICK on the directory of choice,
	now you can DOUBLE CLICK on an existing filename if you
	want to replace that file with a new edited file, it will
	appear in the FILE SAVE WINDOW, simply SINGLE CLICK on SAVE
	and the new information	will be saved to disk. If you want
	to assign a new filename, SINGLE CLICK on the FILE SAVE
	WINDOW, type in the new filename, now SINGLE CLICK on SAVE
	and your new file and its information will be saved to disk.
	As in the previous example, you can switch drives by SINGLE
	CLICKING on the DRIVE SELECTION WINDOW.

	One last note, only files with LOADCALC PLUS extensions
	(LJH) will be displayed.

	HTM Help

	You aquire an HTM value for input into a field by DOUBLE
	CLICKING on the HTM FIELD, a new DOUBLE WINDOW will
	appear, choose and SINGLE CLICK on a construction type in
	the window on the left, various construction descriptions
 	will appear in the window on the right,	SINGLE CLICK on the
	one that most closely matches the design characteristic of
	the structure you are working on, you will be returned to
	the ZONE you are working on and	the appropriate HTM value
	will be automatically plugged in, now simply CLICK on the
	CALCULATE BUTTON to update the design load.

	HINT: Just an information note if your trying to figure out
	the R-Value per inch of different types of insulation.

	Loose Fill machine Blown:

	Fiberglass = R2.25  - Mineral Wool = 3.125 - Cellulose = R3.7

	Loose Fill Hand Poured:

	Cellulose = R3.7 - Mineral Wool = R3.125 - Fiberglass = R2.25
	Vermiculite = R2.1

	Batts Or Blankets:

	Fiberglass = R3.14 - Mineral Wool = R3.14

	Rigid Board

	Polystyrene Beadboard = R3.6 - Extruded Polystyrene = R4.5
	Styrofoam = R5.4 Urethane = R6.2 - Fiberglass = R4.0

	HTMC Help

	Some additional explanation is necessary in this section
	for a few of the HTMC FIELDS, so we'll step through them
	one at a time.

	CEILING HEIGHT is self-explanatory.

	I.D.T. = Inside Design Temperature.

	O.D.T. = Outside Design Temperature.

	CU. FT. = Total Conditioned Interior Cubic Feet.

	A.C.H. = Air Changes Per Hour. Some additional explanation
	is in order on use of this field. There are two considerations
	with regard to Air Changes

	Per Hour:

	1) Infiltration of outside air into the conditioned environment
	based on construction characterisiticsand;

	2) make up air ventilation C.F.M to comply with your State
	Codes as they apply to the use of the building.

	The amount of infiltration is determined/estimated based on
	the overall condition and construction characteristics of
	the structure, here is a table to help you select a A.C.H
	value for infiltration.

	Floor Area   0 - 900      900 - 1500      1500 - 2100     Over 2100
        	     ______________________________________________________
	Best           0.4           0.4              0.3            0.3
	Average        1.2           1.0              0.8            0.7
	Poor           2.2           1.6              1.2            1.0
                     ______________________________________________________
	Add For Each Fireplace Best Average Poor
                                      0.1              0.2          0.6
                     ______________________________________________________

	With regard to make up air ventilation C.F.M., you will
	have to consult your State HVAC Code, these may vary from
	state to state, so tables for ventilation C.F.M. have not
	been included in the program.

	Once you have determined the Infiltration and ventilation
	A.C.H. values, add them together and input the result in
	the A.C.H. FIELD.

	REMEMBER TO CLICK ON THE CALCULATE BUTTON IN ZONE 1 WHEN
 	YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES, ALL OTHER ZONES WILL AUTO CALCULATE.

	MODULE Help

	SINGLE CLICK on DESIGN in the MENU BAR, then SINGLE CLICK
	on either AIR-CONDITIONING or REFRIGERATION, the module you
	have selected will be loaded.

	NOTE: ONLY MODULES YOU HAVE PURCHASED WILL BE AVAILABLE.

	PRINT Help

	SINGLE CLICK on FILE in the MENU BAR, then SINGLE CLICK
	on PRINT, the PRINT WINDOW will open, check the boxes of
	the zones you wish to print, then SINGLE CLICK on the
	PRINT BUTTON. LOADCALC PLUS prints the zone forms in
	graphical format, if you are running LOADCALC PLUS on an
	older and slower computer, it will take a minute or two
	or three for the forms to be set up and sent to your
	printer, be patient, they will eventually be generated
	and they will look good too.

	ZONE Help

	LoadCalc PLUS comes equipped to handle up to 10 zones.
	You can browse through and edit the zones by simply clicking
	on DESIGN in the menu bar, then select the zone you wish to
	edit. As you move through the zones, the current zone will be
	displayed above the menu bar.

	Zone screen 1 can be utilized to calculate a whole structure
	design and the remaining 9 zone screens can be utilized to
	calculate individual zones within the structure, or, you can
	calculate for 10 individual zones.

	SAMPLE File

	A sample file titled HOUSE has been provided with the program
	that you can load for eaxmination.
