Biblos Version 1.01

Welcome to Biblos! Biblos is a reference publishing system designed to let you
distribute your reference materially electronically to Windows PCs, with or
without a network.

If you have publications that you currently print and distribute to colleagues
or customers then Biblos could help you save money and make your information
work harder. With Biblos you can quickly convert your word processor documents
into electronic books that sit on an electronic shelf in Biblos. When users
look at the electronic books, they appear as they do in print. The similarity
doesn't end there though. Users turn the pages of their books and can insert
sticky notes and bookmarks. You can create different shelves that group
together like books and you can do sophisticated searches within or across
shelves.

Who is Biblos for?

Biblos is for people and organisations that publish reference guides, user
guides, policy manuals, quality manuals, procedures manuals and so on.
Publishing electronically can deliver huge savings in production and
transport costs and makes your information more accessible. You also
ensure that information users have access to the latest version of your
material. If you and your colleagues are on a network, you can add or remove
books from shared libraries at will. Road warriors can keep key material on
the hard disk of their notebook PCs and less often used books on a network
drive.

What does this demo contain?

This demo contains everything you need to try Biblos and create your own
electronic publications. The Biblos Reader software will run for 45 days
from the day you first install it.

The demo contains three sample publications:

The New World of Wine
Sun Tzu's The Art of War
Speeches from the 1995 Electronic Book Conference held in London

The original documents are also included so that you can see how easy it
is to create Biblos books.

How do I install the demo?

Run the setup program from within Windows. The easiest way to do this is
to choose the Run option from the Program Manager's File menu. Then, run
the setup program. For example,

a:\setup if the demo files are on a floppy disk
c:\cserve\download\setup if the setup program is in the
cserve\download directory on your c drive.

Then, just follow the setup program's instructions.
