Welcome

Welcome to the netViz 2.0a demo. This is a functional demo version of the
ultimate network diagramming and documenting tool for Windows.

This demo is freely distributable. Please pass this along to any colleagues
that might be interested.

What is netViz?

netViz is a Windows-based diagramming and documenting tool, integrating
graphics and data management. This unique business graphics tool is ideal
for diagramming computer networks, process flows, or any other type of complex
diagrams. The easy to use drag-and-drop interface of netViz allows you to
start work immediately.

You can access over 375 pre-made symbols, or can bring in your own graphics
in over 30 different graphics formats, such as CGM, DXF, BMP and WMF. You
can define your links by line type, style, color, and other attributes.
netViz will also export a diagram as a Windows Metafile (WMF) or copy the
diagram through the clipboard to be inserted easily in other applications.

netViz diagrams are truly WYSIWYG. netViz can print to any output device
supported by Windows, including plotters and color printers. The diagram
can even be printed to whatever size of paper your printer supports, even
large ones like E size. You can print either a single diagram or all
diagrams in a project with a single command.

You can add, delete or move nodes and links. When a node is moved, the links
and labels move with it. netViz supports multi-layered hierarchies to easily
document large, complex systems and networks. Each level of your network is
contained within its own window and is saved to a single project file.
netViz also includes a hierarchy browser, which allows you to easily browse
all levels of a project with an interface similar to Windows File Manager.

Links can also stretch across multiple diagrams. For example, you can have
modems in your New York and LA offices and drag a connection between them
directly from one window to the other. The link will be shown in all of the
diagrams up to their common parent with the node at the other end represented
by a reference node in the diagram. This feature, called Link Inheritance is
a powerful tool to track and maintain connections from the global to the
local view.

The integrated data manager associates information with the graphic objects.
You can create your own data fields for each node or link type, and add or
change those fields at any time. On-screen data display allows you to enter
or change data right at each object, and set the location, font, size, and
color for the data display, or hide on-screen data. Data can also be edited
in the inspector which displays all of the data fields of an object, even
those that are not used as labels.

The table view displays data attributes in a spreadsheet-like format. This
can be sorted and rearranged for printout and easier understanding of your
data. You can also search data attributes, even across multiple diagrams.
The search results are also presented in a spreadsheet-like format and can
also be sorted and rearranged for easier presentation of information.

You can import data in ASCII format to populate netViz diagrams and export
the data for use in a spreadsheet or database application.

netViz also has free text and free graphics capabilities. This allows you
to easily add text and simple graphics for titles, legends, etc. to your
diagrams.

This is just a quick overview of netViz's features! Please try out the demo
and explore it on your own!

The netViz Demo

The demo program lets you open only the sample projects that were provided in
this demo kit. The Save function is disabled. You can however perform most
functions including creating new projects and printing the diagrams or
reports. Advanced features such as Export Data and Import Project are also
disabled.

The graphics and map libraries are not included - only a few samples are
provided. Similarly, the graphic conversion filters are not included. For
your convenience, the on-line Help is also included; make sure you take a
look at the Quick Tips section for an overview of the most used features.
