If You Read Nothing Else, Read This!

Like most people, you probably do not want to read the instructions, you just want to try it out! Your life will be a lot easier if you read this sheet.

Select and Draw

Like most drawing packages, FX Draw operates by allowing you to select a tool and then use it to draw an object. The tool bar is situated on the left hand side of the window. Select any tool, move to the canvas and sweep out an area while holding down the left button. Easier done than said!

Double Click to Edit

Most objects that you can draw have many properties that you can set. Lines, for example, can have fourteen different arrows/marks at each end and in the middle, as well as text attached to the line. In order to edit these properties you must double click on the object. This will bring up a dialogue box allowing you to set the properties. Then you can experiment to your hearts content!

Sliders

Many objects will have sliders attached to them when selected. These little grey buttons allow you to adjust properties for the object without using the dialogue boxes. The function of the slider depends on the object that it is attached to. If you see a slider, move it and see what happens.

Gallery Tool

This tool allows you to draw most common diagrams at the push of a button. Double click on the button (or use Gallery/Select) and you will be given access to a gallery of hundreds of images that can be used in your diagrams. Perhaps the most powerful aspect of the gallery images is that they can be fully modified to suit your requirements.

Setting Defaults

Some tools have default settings (for example the arrow line tool) that can be changed to suit your needs. By double clicking on the toolbar button, you will be given the opportunity to set defaults for many tools.
