QuickChart application note:

QuickChart lets you quickly view, navigate and print financial data stored in MetaStock / CompuTrac data format. Crisp charts are presented with user choice of colors and other technical indicator options.

QuickChart was created for Windows 3.1.

QuickChart is shareware - it is not free. There is a 30 trial evaluation period.

FILES

ctl.zip A zipped version of ctl3dv2.dll.
license.txt	All the important legal things you should know.
qchart.exe	The application.
qchart.hlp	The application's Help file.
readme.txt	This file.
sample.zip	A zipped version of a sample
data series - Coke, BUD and Intel.

INSTALLATION

Simply copy all files to a new directory of your choice. The license.txt should be read before use. The application is qchart.exe. It works when you select a file of the name "master" (no extension) from the File > Open menu. All CompuTrac and MetaStock data are indexed via files of the name master.

This application requires ctl3dv2.dll be in your Windows\System directory. If you already have it then delete ctl.zip. If you do not, then unzip ctl.zip, move (not copy) ctl3dv2.dll to Windows\System then delete ctl.zip. DO NOT leave ctl3dv2.dll in the directory from which qchart.exe will be launched.

sample.zip is a sample of three stocks in CompuTrac/MetaStock format for those who do not have data in that format yet but wish to give QuickChart a test drive. Suggested use is to create a new directory anywhere, move sample.zip to it, unzip and delete sample.zip. The result will be files: f1.dat, f1.dop, f2.dat, f2.dop, f3.dat, f3.dop and master. When you launch qchart.exe do a File > Open on the master file. That's it!
