The Student Search

Each year more than a million students graduate from college and begin
seeking employment. And let's be real. Some of them are made to look
better on a traditional resume than others. That means that they may
have the upper hand getting a job, in spite of other, better qualified
candidates. So why not change the rules of the game. Career/NET does.
It lets students get specific and personal about themselves and their
college experiences and career aspirations in a way that a resume never
could.

With Career/NET, student material is organized into searchable profiles,
the way employers want to see it. And Career/NET gets to the right
person -- the one who's interested and can hire -- because participating
companies paid for Career/NET and will use it to find eligible graduates.

Career/NET improves the odds of matching qualified students and hiring
employers.

The Employer Search

The employment process is no less time consuming and costly for
employers. Helping employers find that one right person, and doing it
with a speed and assurance never before possible is what Career/NET is
about.

The time-honored system for matching graduates with employers is
surprisingly haphazard. Year after year, students mail out resumes to
whatever companies they've heard of and wait for invitations to
interview. Employers struggle to organize hundreds of thousands of
resumes, each in a different style and format.

Resumes are not as helpful as they might be. Useful information is often
buried among irrelevant facts added as padding. And typically, little is
included about career or personal aspirations, information that can help
determine whether a candidate is compatible with your company.

But with Career/NET, standardized student profiles and in-depth personal
statements from college students all over the country come to employers
on CD-ROM with sophisticated search and analysis software built-in.

Career/NET makes the placement process easier for both graduates and
employers.

How Career/NET works

To become a part of Career/NET, students purchase a kit which includes a
computer diskette and user-friendly instructions for entering their
employment profile. Completed profiles on diskettes are uploaded via
modem or mail. Students can print a two page resume from their profile
or print a report showing all of their profile data.

Students usually spend two to three hours completing their Career/NET
profile. The earlier in the graduating year that students enter their
data, the greater employer exposure is achieved. Two updates come with
the kit to assure that student profiles stay current, i.e., semester
grades, new achievements, change of address.

Career/NET Demonstration

By taking a few minutes to review the demo version, you will see
Career/NET in action. Descriptive data is collected and a written
expression recorded. And in that process, all of the information
required by a comprehensive job search is organized into an easily
referenced resource.
