1. Definition of Shareware............................................

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you
are required to register it (or purchase the licensed version, as in
the case of Pastor's Helpmate for Windows).

Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and retail software, and the
copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions
as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just
like retail authors, and the programs are of comparable quality - In
both cases, there are good programs and bad ones! The main difference
is in the method of distribution. The author specifically grants the
right to copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry
or to a specific group. For example, some authors require written
permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should
find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
retail or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead
is lower, prices are lower also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back
guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.

4. Installing/Running..................................................

Pastor's Helpmate v2.2 is a database application that runs under
Microsoft Access v2.0. You must have MS Access v2.0 installed on your
computer before you can run Pastor's Helpmate v2.2. MS Access v2.0 is
included in the Microsoft Office 4.2 Professional software suite or it
can be obtained as an individual product. For more information on MS
Access, contact Microsoft at "http://www.microsoft.com" on the internet
or call your local software distributor. Versions of Pastor's Helpmate
for Microsoft Access v7.0 (Access 95) and v8.0 (Access 97) are also
available from Pinnacle Productions (visit our web site for more
information).

Pastor's Helpmate for Windows consists of 2 MS Access files
(.mdb extension). The PH22PROG.MDB file contains the forms, queries,
macros, and modules required by Pastor's Helpmate. The PH22DATA.MDB
file contains all data to be stored by the program (names, addresses,
etc.). These 2 files must be kept together in the same directory.

Since you are reading this file (README.TXT), you have
successfully run the PH22.EXE self-extracting file which decompressed
the PH22PROG.MDB, PH22DATA.MDB, PH.HLP, PH.ICO, UPGRADE.TXT,
GENESIS.MDB, FILEINFO.TXT, and README.TXT files onto your hard drive.
You may leave these files where they currently exist (where you instructed
the WinZip self-extractor to extract to) or move them into either a new
or existing directory on your hard drive. It does not matter in what
directory these files are placed - as long as they are kept together.

To run Pastor's Helpmate, start MS Access and open the
PH22PROG.MDB database file by using the File/Open commands from the
MS Access menu. If you like, you may add an icon to your Windows
Windows desktop by following the steps below:

	Windows 3.1-------------------------------------------------
	1. From the Program Manager's menu select File/New. At the
"New Program Object" Dialog Box, select "Program Group" and
	then click "OK".

	2. At the "Program Group Properties" Dialog Box, type "Pastor's
Helpmate" in the "Description:" field and then click "OK". A
new program group labelled "Pastor's Helpmate" will be created.

	3. While this new program group is highlighted (active),
select File/New from the Program Manager's menu and select
	"Program Item". Click "OK".

	4. At the "Program Item Properties" Dialog Box, type "Pastor's
Helpmate" in the "Description:" field. In the "Command Line:"
field type in the path for your MS Access program followed by
	"PH22PROG.MDB" .
	Example: c:\msoffice\access\msaccess.exe PH22PROG.MDB

	5. In the "Working Directory:" field, type the current path
and directory where the PH22PROG.MDB and PH22DATA.MDB files exist.
	Example: c:\helpmate

	6. Click "OK". You should now have the Pastor's Helpmate
program icon in the Pastor's Helpmate program group. Double-
click the icon to start Pastor's Helpmate.

	Windows 95---------------------------------------------------------
	1. Open the Windows 95 Explorer and locate the PH22PROG.MDB file.
	2. Right-click the PH22PROG.MDB file and drag it onto the desktop.
	3. When the right-click menu appears, select "Create Shortcut(s) Here"

NOTE: Attempting to open the MS Access v2.0 Shareware version of Pastor's
Helpmate in MS Access v7.0 (Access 95) or v8.0 (Access 97) will result in
a conversion error. The shareware version of Pastor's Helpmate utilizes
the MS Access security system to prevent the user from viewing/editing
the design content of the database application (ph22prog.mdb). Without
full rights to the database, MS Access cannot perform the conversion.
Even with rights to perform a version conversion (registered version), it
is highly recommended that users use the Pastor's Helpmate application file
that matches their version of MS Access rather than performing a conversion
from one MS Access version to another. There are several issues that
must be addressed when performing such a conversion of Pastor's Helpmate.
Using the correct version of Pastor's Helpmate for your MS Access version
assures that these conversion issues have been addressed and accounted for.
The Pastor's Helpmate data file (ph22data.mdb) which holds all the table
data records for your church can be used with all versions of MS Access
without conversion issues/problems.

5. Minimum Hardware/Software Requirements..............................

Below are the suggested minimum hardware requirements for
running Pastors Helpmate v2.2 for Windows:
	1. CPU: 486DX2/66 (Pentium recommended)
	2. Memory: 8MB (16MB+ recommended)
	3. Free disk space: Shareware version with sample database
and associated files require approx. 3MB disk space. However,
the data file (PH22DATA.MDB) will increase in size as more data
is entered into the database. Approx. 25MB disk space should
be reserved for a typical church membership application.
	4. Display: 800x600 minimum screen resolution required. Most
of the forms used in Pastor's Helpmate have windows larger than
640x480 and the program will therefore be unusable on a 640x480
	screen resolution display.
	5. Microsoft Windows 3.1 or 95
	6. Microsoft Access v2.0
	7. Other: Refer to the minimum requirements for MS Access
	v2.0 for any additional	requirements.

6. The User's Guide....................................................

In order to keep the size of the Shareware version of Pastor's Helpmate
reasonable, and to encourage your purchase of the registered version,
no user's guide is provided with this shareware verion. A printed

11. Known Problems in v2.2...............................................

- Individuals Form; Click on Edit button at top of form. Click on the
Group Membership edit button at bottom of form to open the Group
Membership Management Form for the current individual. Click the
exit button to close the Group Membership Management Form without
editing any group membership information. Click the Cancel button at
the top of the Individuals Form. Click the Exit button to exit the
Individuals Form. These steps will cause a compile error. Click OK
to clear all compile error dialog boxes. We are unsure of the cause
of this error. This error should cause no problems other than the
nuisance of having to clear the error by clicking OK.

- Contributions Form; When in the process of entering a contribution in
the Data Entry mode, the Show pull-down filter list and the Name/Env#
mode buttons are still enabled. If the user selects these functions
while in the middle of a contribution entry (before pressing the Done
button), the contribution will not be properly recorded.

If you experience a problem with Pastor's Helpmate for Windows,
