ABOUT PIC FILE

HELPFUL SUGGESTION
If you are in Notepad, turn on Wordwrap in the Edit menu. This file will then be easier to read.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
PIC was written to aid geneticists who create markers for linkage analysis.
The program computes the polymorphism information content and heterozygosity of a marker. For a quick overview of how the program operates, run the program and peruse the Help topics under Help/Contents - especially, Program Interface and Data Entry. This will get you up and running in just a few minutes.

Note that Help Contents may be accessed at any time while PIC is running by pressing F1. A right mouse button click will also display context sensitive help for any active control.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
The PIC Program is designed to run on an IBM PC-compatible computer running Microsoft Windows, V 3.1x, but it also seems to run fine in Win 95 as a 16 bit application. The program will take up less than 1 MB on your hard disk. Any printer that is supported by Windows should work.

REGISTRATION
PIC is a Shareware Program. You may use it for a trial period of 30 days after which time you must either remove the program (Uninstall makes that easy) or register it. The program is freely distributable to your colleagues who will also have 30 days for evaluation.
