1) Introduction:

In order to enrich and sustain the beautiful heritage of the Vietnamese
culture, and in order to address some of the needs in the field of
education of young Vietnamese abroad, this multi-media package is
written. It is the sincere hope of the authors that one day modest
educational tools such as this freeware can be used to help rebuild a
truely free Vietnam. It is also the sincere hope of the authors that
many new and better Vietnamese multi-media software packages will be
developed in the future using this simple pilot freeware as one of the
primitive launching pads.

NHACTAP is designed to enable users to play some Vietnamese MIDI
(Musical Instrument Digital Interface) songs, and some wave-file
samples (the only 5 wave-file samples included here are : Dng Xanh,
o La Ma Xun, Ti Mun, B߾c Tnh Hng, and Nhng Vng Trng.
Only a short sample from each song is included because of the large
size of each wave-file). The MIDI files can only be played, thus heard,
if a sound card is present. The wave-files are, however, can be played
with the ordinary computer speaker on the PC. Musical score sheets of
the appropriate songs are also available. These score sheets described
the partial musical composition of the MIDI songs involved and not those
of the original scores which are copyright protected by the original
artists.

This package utilizes on-line graphic menus, where possible, to
create a user-friendly operating environment.

This NHC TP was written using some features of "sans serif VISCII
1.1". Some strange displays are expected if "sans serif VISCII 1.1"
is not installed.

2) System Requirements:

This program requires:

	Software:
		- Microsoft Windows 3.1
		- Trichlor's 1.1 fonts (as installed by winvnkey)

	Hardware:
		- IBM PCs which support Windows 3.1
		- SoundBlaster Pro sound card (those without a sound
card can still install this program
and listen to the limited wave-files included)
		- A mouse

Those with a different sound card, please contact the authors to
obtain get additional midimapper and/or information, at addresses
indicated at the end of this readme file.

This software package is designed optimally for SoundBlaster Pro sound
card. If you have sound card other than SoundBlaster Pro and if your
sound card is GENERAL-MIDI compatible, you can still play this
NHACTAP.HLP. The results are, however, not guaranteed since the authors
did not and could not personally test every available sound card on the
market.

3) File Retrieval:

After downloading NHACTAP.ZIP from your local/global BBSes, copy
it to a temporary directory (you must NOT name this directory NHACTAP.
You can call it TMP, for example), then PKUNZIP it using pkunzip
version 2.04 or higher to obtain the following files:

1. NHACTAP.TXT This copyright and instruction file
2. INSTALL.BAT Seft-installation file
3. NASK.EXE Part of the seft-installation file
4. MIDIWIN.ZIP Compressed file contained core programs of
			NHACTAP
5. SBPMIDI.ZIP Compressed file contained a midimapper for

(if MIDIMAP.CFG does not exist, proceed on with the installation)

At DOS PROMPT, enter the TMP directory in which NHACTAP.ZIP is present

installation should be automatic. You will be asked some basic
questions. Press ENTER if you want to select the default setting.
Just answer them and follow the instructions the best you can. After
that, start Windows and click on any folder (ie. window such as NHU LIEU

file (should be in a newly created directory called NHACTAP). Click
"OK" and then exit PROGRAM.

sheet as it should be. Icon "sound sampler" will play the wave files
included to facilitate those who do not have Soundblater Pro. Icon
"Multimedia" will play the included MIDI files. Clicking icon "Multi-
media" once more will turn the song off. Usually, you should click
