Upgrading from r.11 to r.12:

Things to do before upgrading

Backup your BBS. PKZIP /o /ex /Pr BBSTREE BBS\*.* will do it.

Backup your SHORT.TXT file, a new one is unpacked so you may want the
current one to reference any changes you made.

TXT_BLKS.TXT has changed greatly. So you may want to do a quick scan
of your curent TXT_BLKS.TXT to note changes you made--as the changes
  are not kept when updating.

We also have new versions of the BBS###.BAT files, VIRUSCHK.BAT, and
  DOORMENU files.

Each of the Menu Sets will also have its data files, and USER.ANS and
FILE.ANS equivalents updated. So if you worked hard to get your menus
to where they are now, you backup (you can just restore those backups
  after installation if you want).

Upgrading

   Just run UPGRADE.BAT.

The BBS tree gets a major shaking up, so if it asks you to approve
any directory or file deletions, answer "Y".

After shaking up the directory tree, we do the actual achive unpacking.
At this step, you should select "Destination Directory" to make sure
that points to the drive with your BBS tree, and then "Upgrade r.11".

Things to do after upgrading

   Restart the BBS.

There are a couple new Toggles, so you should look over your Toggles
to make sure they are all as you want them.

At WFC; hit <ctrl>F2 to enter McEditor. Then type "+". At the menu,
select "Import Menus/Categories". At the prompt, enter the pathname:
to the "for12.inp" file. It should create a new category "New for .12"
   You can delete for12.inp.

You should do a "Re-Init #NEWUSER" (from the User|Users menu).

Important: if you do not import the new categories properly, then "!" to
access the sysop menus will not work.

Did you do any TXT_BLKS.TXT or SHORT.TXT changes--might as well re-do
   them now.

If you created your own Style\Language. You should copy over the COMMON
TXT_BLKS.TXT file over what you have now in your directory. Using a Mod
file for your text changes will make updating easier in the future.

That's it.
