Stock Tracker is a "shareware" program, so you are encouraged to
try it out and make copies for friends.  If you like the program
and continue to use it, we ask that you acknowledge your use by
sending in a registration fee, see below.  When you register,
please include any comments or suggestions you have regarding
Stock Tracker.  All documentation is supplied on line, simply go
to the option you want help on, and press the [F1] key.


                       Minimum System Requirements.

     * 510K of available RAM
     * 2 Megs of disk space for the program and sample files.
     * 80 Column Color or Monochrome Monitor.
     * A VGA Monitor is Recommended But Not Necessary.


                        Unziping Stock Tracker 2.1

To install Stock Tracker 2.1 copy the zip file to the directory
where you want to install the software.  Next use the pkunzip
option with the -d option to copy the files to their correct
directorys.  for example pkunzip -d stocktrk.  Once the file is
unziped the program is ready to run.  Please read the warrany
disclamer below.  Because we have no way of knowing where you got
this program, we have disabled the encryption options of this
program.


                  Upgrading From Stock Tracker 1.0, 1.01

If you have Version 1.0 or Version 1.01 of Stock Tracker you will
need to run the conversion utility supplied to upgrade your data
files.  This utility upgrades your STOCK.CFG file along with the
portfolio files and some of the stock files.  To run this
utility, place the CONVERT.EXE program where your STOCK.CFG file
is located and type "CONVERT".  The conversion utility will
convert the STOCK.CFG file to the new format and then use the 
information located in the configuration file to find the rest of
the files it needs to convert.


                     New Features in Stock Tracker 2.0

Stock Tracker now has the ability to do File Encryption and
Decryption. Passwords can also be placed on portfolios to protect
them from prying eyes.  Stock Tracker can automaticly decrypt the
note file associated with the portfolio.  You can now load
multiple data files with one command.  Stock Tracker now has an
annual return estimator which calculates both the annual return
and the overall return based on the information you supply.  You
can now graph the performance of your portfolio.  You now have
the ability to tell Stock Tracker where the configuration file is
located.  You can also Tell Stock Tracker to store its database
files in a different directory.  Stock Tracker now allows you to
edit the help colors and has changed the default colors for the
portfolio window and the stock window.  This is now a separate
color selection from the other dialog boxes.  The color of the
stock window is different if the stock registers a loss.  Stock
Tracker now takes advantage of your math coprocessor if one is
detected.  Stock Tracker now has two different formats for the
way Stock, Mutual Fund and Futures data is entered.  Stock
Tracker can now display two graphs at the same time.  All these
features and more have been added to Stock Tracker 2.0.


                     New Features In Stock Tracker 2.1

Stock Tracker now computes and displays the annualized return in
the portfolio report.  Stock Tracker now allows you to overlay
Stock, Mutual Fund or Futures Data, not just Stock files for
Stocks or Mutual Fund Files for Mutual Funds.  Stock Tracker has
added support for different printers.  The supported printers
include a Laserjet, Epson and Postscript printers.  Stock Tracker
can automaticly rencrypt a decryped file for you.  Any reports
produced under a portfolio with a password will automaticly be
encrypted with the portfolio password.  Stock Tracker has added
support for both CompuServe and Genie down loaded quotes.  Stock
Tracker now produces reports for securities being watched and
securities held.  Changes have been made where support files are
stored.  These changes help Stock Tracker if it is stored on a
network or is run from different directories on the same
computer.  this comes in handy if two different people are using
the same computer.  All these features and more have been added
to Stock Tracker 2.1


                         Sample File And Locations

Schwab Software Systems has provided many sample files to help
you understand Stock Tracker.  The directories are defined in the
setup directory option in Stock Tracker.  The files with the .VAL
extension are note files and should be placed in the note
directory.  The files with the .STK extension are the data files
for each security.  These files should be placed in the data
directory.  The files with the .SBL extension contains the
database files that Stock Tracker uses to read portfolio
information, stock, futures and mutual fund information.  These
files should be placed in the Stock Tracker database directory. 
Files with the Extension .DIV And .TRA are the transaction files. 
Stock Tracker stores transaction and dividend information in
these files.  The files should be placed in the portfolio
directory.  The files with the extensions .BGI, .CHR and .HLP are
support files for Stock Tracker and are usually located in the
same directory where the Stock Tracker executable file is
located, but these file can be located in a different directory
if you use the D=<Directory Name> where Directory Name is the
name of the directory where these files are located. 


                    Startup Options For Stock Tracker.

The Startup options are as follows.  To tell stock where to read
the configuration file use the startup option C=<Directory Name>
where directory name is the complete path where the configuration
file can be found.  The directory name must end with a backslash
\. If the configuration file cannot be found Stock Tracker will
create one.  To tell Stock Tracker to startup with a different
portfolio other than the default use the P=<Portfolio File Name>
where the <Portfolio File Name> is the file name of the
portfolio, DO NOT use an extension on this file.  You can also
tell Stock Tracker that you want it to read its support files
from a different directory than where it started.  The parameter
for this option is D=<Directory Name>.  Where Directory Name is
the complete path where its support files can be found.  The
directory name must enter with a backslash \.

or any other person or entity, whether from use of the programs
or documentation, any failure , or otherwise, even if Schwab
Software Systems is aware of the possibilities of such damages.

be bound by it in all respects by using this program.  This
agreement is the entire agreement between Schwab Software Systems
and the user, which supersedes any prior proposals, statements,
understandings, or agreements.


                       How To Register Stock Tracker

To register Stock Tracker with Schwab Software Systems start up
Stock Tracker, Press [Alt][H], now press [R].  Now simply fill
out the form and print it using the "Print Registration" option, 
send the completed form to Schwab Software Systems 1636 Shadow
Valley Dr, Ogden UT 84403-4627.
