 1. Introduction :
 *****************

RAILWAYS can play VOC sound files (8bit, unsigned, mono). This feature
is available when running locos in the Digital Module of the software.
When you click in the "associated sound" field in a loco-window, this
plays a preselected sound you choose when defining loco (see README.TXT
     for further information).
Only VOC sound files formatted as 8bit, unsigned, mono can be played
     with current version of RAILWAYS.
As default, sound support is disabled (IRQ=0 in the configuration file
     named RLW-US.CFG).
To enable sound support, you must change RAILWAYS configuration file.
Sound support is only for SoundBlaster cards and compatible...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

 2. Configuration :
 ******************

Sound configuration in RAILWAYS is quite easy if you know the confi-
    guration of your sound card.
First, if you don't know exactly what is your sound card setup, read
your sound card manual, and get the IRQ, DMA and Port parameters.
Second, edit RLW-US.CFG and change "SoundBlaster Card setup" parameters
at the end of this file. Give IRQ, DMA and Port values. Be sure to write
the right ones, otherwise your computer may hang when starting RAILWAYS.
You can test your configuration with TESTVOC.EXE program. Command line
options are : TESTVOC.EXE VOCfile [IRQ DMA Port(hexa)].
As default, TESTVOC uses IRQ=5, DMA=1 and Port=220.
For example, if your sound card setup is : IRQ=3, DMA=1, Port=230 and
the VOC sound file is MOON.VOC, type :
                     TESTVOC.EXE MOON.VOC 3 1 230

    You should hear something !

VOC sound files for locos are located in SOUNDS\ directory of your
RAILWAYS directory (be sure to unzip RAILWAYS ZIP archive (usually
RLW308US.ZIP) with the directory option (usually PKUNZIP -d RLW308US.ZIP))

NB: If you get error messages like "Stub error (2002) : cant' find rtm.exe"
when launching TESTVOC.EXE, you must copy RTM.EXE and DPMI16BI.OVL from
RAILWAYS home directory to SOUNDS\ directory.

 3. User VOC sound files :
 *************************

As RAILWAYS can play VOC sound file (8bit, unsigned, mono), you can add
as many sounds as you wish for your locos management.
First of all, be sure your VOC sound file has the right format : it must
be 8bit-unsigned-mono. If not, you can convert it to this format thanks
to many good sound file converters like GoldWave for Windows or something
like that (GoldWave is shareware and available in many FTP sites, usually
with name GWvernb.ZIP where vernb is the version number).
You can test your VOC sound file with TESTVOC.EXE program (see above).
Once your sound file is ready, move it to the SOUNDS\ directory of your
RAILWAYS directory (see above) with VOC extension. It is now registered
    as a loco sound file.
Launch RAILWAYS, go to the 'Digital Module', define your loco(s) and
selected the VOC sound file(s) you want.
Let's play and have a good fun !

NB : 00EMPTY.VOC is an empty VOC sound file (no sound) : select it if
you don't want to associate a sound to a loco.

 (IRQ, DMA and Port).
