Xylogics Announces Fault-Tolerant Channelized T-1 Remote Access with the
Remote Annex 6100

New all-in-one server eliminates costly and cumbersome equipment to provide
full multiprotocol enterprise access through T-1 lines

BURLINGTON, MA--SEPTEMBER 11, 1995 -- Xylogics, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLGX) the
leading provider of Universal Remote Access solutions, today announced the
Remote Annex 6100 channelized T-1 remote access server. Designed to
provide a highly integrated, cost-effective remote LAN access solution for
large-scale enterprise networks utilizing digital T-1 lines, the Remote
Annex 6100-the inaugural product in the 6000 series-offers the same rich
software features as the rest of Xylogics' award-winning Remote Annex
line. By providing the equivalent of a multiprotocol remote access server,
a T-1 CSU/DSU, a T-1 multiplexor and 24 V.34 modems in a single hardware
box, Xylogics' Remote Annex 6100 offers the most efficient, cost-effective
and comprehensive channelized T-1 remote access solution available.
Moreover, the product offers a fault-tolerant option with full redundancy
when using two or more 6100s in a network.

The Remote Annex 6100 joins Xylogics' Nautica series of ISDN routers, and
the rest of the Remote Annex family of high-performance, multiprotocol
remote access servers as an integral component of Xylogics' Universal
Remote Access solution designed to connect any user, anywhere, to any
application at any time, regardless of the technology being used.

"Many companies with growing enterprise networks and large numbers of
remote users are adopting T-1 lines for better performance and an overall
cost savings over traditional analog lines," said Grace Carr, Xylogics'
vice president of North American sales and worldwide marketing. "With its
support for channelized T-1, the Remote Annex 6100 is a natural addition
to Xylogics' Universal Remote Access products, adding yet another option
to the variety of network access solutions we provide to our customers."

"As remote access deployment shifts from a basic departmental scenario to a
functional, enterprise-wide strategy, the market trend is moving toward
line consolidation to support heavier use. T-1 technology reflects this
maturation," said Dave Norton, product manager at Cabletron. "Xylogics has
been providing remote access technology for Cabletron hubs for some time;
we are pleased to learn that the company has added T-1 access technology
to its product line."

About the Remote Annex 6100

The Remote Annex 6100 combines the benefits of multiprotocol remote access
and multi-user host access over a cost-effective, high performance T-1
connection. Large, enterprise sites with a significant number of dial-in
lines will benefit from the Remote Annex 6100 through:

LOWER OVERALL COST AS COMPARED TO ANALOG LINE EQUIVALENT: The channelized
T-1 capabilities of the Remote Annex 6100 allow it to support up to 24
simultaneous user connections over a single T-1 line, offering network
managers a cost-effective alternative to using individual analog phone
lines by providing the equivalent of 24 individual analog lines in a
single T-1pipe.

EASIER TO MANAGE THAN TRADITIONAL T-1 SOLUTIONS: Because the Remote Annex
6100's T-1 remote access solution eliminates the need for costly equipment
and difficult cabling requirements, Xylogics' single-box solution is much
easier for network managers to manage and maintain.

SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OVER ANALOG LINES: Because it is a purely digital
phone service, channelized T-1 is much less susceptible to line noise,
eliminating the transmission errors common to analog loops, giving remote
and mobile users clearer transmissions with less chance of being
disconnected while accessing files on the network.

FAULT-TOLERANT OPTION FOR MISSION-CRITICAL ENVIRONMENTS: For network
managers responsible for mission-critical applications, the 6100 supports
full redundancy. With a simple cabling option, the network manager can
configure two 6100s in a network whereby one can take over for the other
should the 6100 fail.

INDUSTRY-LEADING PROTOCOL SUPPORT: The Remote Annex 6100 offers support for
the widest range of networking protocols over PPP in the
industry-including TCP/IP, IPX, AppleTalk-along with multi- user host
systems, providing true Universal Remote Access to heterogeneous
enterprise networks.

ON-DEMAND DIAL-UP ROUTING: The Remote Annex 6100 offers dial-on- demand
routing to multiple destinations from a single modem pool, eliminating the
need to dedicate a port to a specific site or protocol. This allows
increased flexibility and cost savings for the network manger.

SUPPORT FOR INDUSTRY-STANDARD CHAP SECURITY: Network managers can choose
from a number of flexible security options, including CHAP, which encrypts
plain-text passwords over a dial-up link, protecting the network from
unauthorized users attempting to seize data traveling across phone lines.
CHAP security also provides the additional advantage of interoperability
with third-party client software including Netmanage Chameleon and Windows
95.

"We have a number of large corporate customers seeking solutions for
high-traffic dial-in LAN access." said Richard Kimmel, corporate
applications consultant at Four Corners Technology, a large Arizona- based
networking reseller. "With Xylogics' Remote Annex 6100, we will be able to
offer the best overall solution available. Xylogics channelized T-1
technology removes the need for multiple individual lines and offers
instead consistent line quality and cleaner communications through one
single product, eliminating the hassle and waste of modem stacks and
duplicated equipment."

About the Remote Annex Family

The Remote Annex 2000, Remote Annex 4000 and Remote Annex 6100 provide
remote and mobile users with multi-protocol, enterprise-wide access to
corporate LANs. The Remote Annex line as a whole is fully scaleable from
four to 72 ports. Remote Annex products offer support for a broad range of
standards-based management features. Each Remote Annex server offers
built-in, high-level security including password protection, dial-back and
support for Kerberos, Enigma Logic and Security Dynamics' SecurID
technology-for excellent protection against unauthorized network access.
All Remote Annex products come with free unlimited- use licenses for
Xylogics' FastLink II Windows-based client software, making Remote Annex
products a very cost-effective remote access solution for even the largest
of enterprise-wide networks. A lifetime warranty on hardware and 30 days
of free telephone support are also included.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the Remote Annex 6100 starts at $16,995 depending on the
feature set required. The Remote Annex 6100 will be available in October
1995 through Xylogics resellers worldwide.
