Xylogics Debuts ISDN Product Line; Extends Corporate Networks with High
Speed, Multiprotocol Bridging/Routing Products

"Nautica" line provides scaleable, cost-effective network access solutions
for ISDN networks

BURLINGTON, MA--SEPTEMBER 11, 1995 -- Xylogics. Inc., (NASDAQ:XLGX) the
leading provider of Universal Remote Access solutions, today announced its
new Nautica line of high-performance remote access bridge/routers for ISDN
and leased-line networks. Designed for telecommuters and remote office
locations that require a reliable, high-speed connection to the corporate
network, the Nautica line provides remote client access, multi-user host
access and remote office access to the corporate network over ISDN lines
for users of IPX, TCP/IP, Banyan VINES, Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT
and PPP all in a single piece of hardware. By offering multiprotocol
analog, channelized T-1 and now ISDN remote access solutions, Xylogics now
provides the most complete, universal remote access solution in the
industry.

Recognized by Data Communications magazine as a "Hot Product" of 1995, the
CLAM, as well as the rest of the Nautica line, is currently available in
Europe. Xylogics has developed new versions of the Nautica products that
are compatible with ISDN technology in the United States.

The award-winning CLAM is a personal ISDN router that is ideal for home
offices or smaller branch offices that require remote network connections.
The multi-port MARLIN is designed for mid- to large- sized branch offices,
medium-sized backbone networks or central sites. Both products support
Basic Rate ISDN (BRI) and Ethernet connections. The Marlin also supports
Primary Rate ISDN (PRI). The Nautica series joins Xylogics' Remote Annex
6100 channelized T-1 remote access server, and the rest of the Remote
Annex family of high-performance, multiprotocol remote access servers as
an integral component of Xylogics' Universal Remote Access solution
designed to connect any user, anywhere, to any application at any time,
regardless of the technology being used.

"For today's computer user, the capabilities of ISDN connections are
essential for maintaining productivity," said Bruce Sachs, Xylogics
president and CEO. "More and more employees are working from home; they
need the extra power and speed of ISDN to support their bandwidth
requirements. Xylogics continues its commitment to meet the needs of the
growing mobile and remote workforce, as well as the needs of network
managers faced with expanding enterprise networks, by adding the Nautica
line of ISDN products to our comprehensive family of universal remote
access solutions."

About the Nautica CLAM and the Nautica MARLIN

The Nautica CLAM and the Nautica MARLIN provide high-speed, high-
bandwidth, multiprotocol connections to all of the resources of the
corporate enterprise network over ISDN lines. The CLAM is designed for
single users or small offices, while the multi-port MARLIN is an
expandable product capable of up to 23 (in North America) or 30 (in
Europe) ISDN connections. The MARLIN can also be used as a central site
router or bridge, and, with the optional Hublet card, as an integrated,
fully managed eight port 10BaseT repeater/hub, which is ideal for smaller
remote office sites that require hub capabilities but are unable to
justify the resources associated with installing and maintaining a
free-standing hub.

"Service to our client base, which includes the main financial and trading
houses, is our main concern, " said Paul Sullivan, D.P. manager at
Pershing Limited in London. "Xylogics' Nautica products allow us to
provide our clients with the latest on-demand, high speed routing
technology, with excellent security facilities, at a low cost threshold.
The plug-and-play operation of these routers and bridges allows us to
bring clients on-line at a days notice, giving us a huge competitive
advantage and enabling us to expand our business easily."

Telecommuters and remote offices that require immediate, high-speed access
to the corporate network benefit from the Nautica line through:

HIGH SPEED, HIGH BANDWIDTH TRANSMISSIONS USING ISDN LINES: Integrated
Services Digital Network, commonly known as ISDN, provides a digital
connection specifically designed to accommodate high-bandwidth
transmissions, such as graphics, images and large text files. ISDN lines
offer increased speed-up to four times as fast as common analog phone
lines. Nautica allows multiple ISDN channels to be shared dynamically as a
single pipe for higher speeds.

SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION AND STANDARDS-BASED MANAGEMENT: The Nautica series
can be configured and managed from any local or remote location using a
broad range of standards-based management systems. To further simplify
installation, the Nautica series offers an exclusive auto-learning feature
that allows the CLAM and the MARLIN to automatically learn the network
topology and services during the initial connection.

SCALEABLE ARCHITECTURE TO ACCOMMODATE GROWING NETWORKS: With the CLAM and
the MARLIN, network managers can easily expand their enterprise networks
to include branch offices and telecommuters as their remote access needs
grow, for anywhere from one to thousands of users.

SIGNIFICANT COST SAVINGS THROUGH DIAL-ON-DEMAND CAPABILITIES: For network
managers, utilizing ISDN lines for remote access can translate into a cost
savings for their companies, because unlike dedicated leased lines,
charges are incurred only for the actual connection time used.

INDUSTRY LEADING SPOOFING AND FILTERING TECHNIQUES TO PREVENT UNNECESSARY
TRANSMISSION OF IDLE TRAFFIC: With the Nautica series, unnecessary traffic
over the WAN-a common bottleneck-is eliminated through advanced spoofing
and filtering techniques such as RIP/SAP Filtering, Watchdog Spoofing for
NetWare, and Static IP Routes for TCP/IP.

SEVERAL LEVELS OF COMPREHENSIVE SECURITY FEATURES TO PREVENT UNAUTHORIZED
NETWORK ACCESS: As with all Xylogics networking products, the Nautica
series offers built-in, high level security, including calling line
identification (CLI) checking to prevent incoming calls from unauthorized
sources, data encryption to ensure that data cannot be easily scanned and
address filtering to allow strict control of network access.

"I'm extremely impressed with the CLAM and the MARLIN's ease of
installation, configuration and remote management," said John Rockingham,
director of Information Systems for Tektronix U.K. "As part of our new
telecommuting initiative, Tektronix is encouraging its sales and
engineering staff in branch offices to work from home. Xylogics' Nautica
products are making that possible by giving our telecommuters on-demand,
high-speed access to any of our European offices, directly from their
homes."

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the Nautica CLAM personal ISDN router starts at $1,195, and
pricing for the MARLIN begins at $1,995. Both products will be available
in the U.S. beginning October 1995 through Xylogics resellers and
distributors worldwide.
