Viewlogic Offers Market Leading Timing Analysis and Signal Integrity Tools
for NT and Win95

Quad's MOTIVE and XTK Available For Workview Office

MARLBORO, MA, SEPT. 18, 1995 -- Viewlogic Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: VIEW) has
announced that Quad Design's industry-leading analysis toolswill be
available concurrently with the Viewlogic Workview Office EDA tool suite.
The MOTIVE timing analysis and XTK signal integrity toolswill be offered
as part of the Workview Office tool suite for Windows NT and Windows 95
platforms. Workview Office combines UNIX-level performance with
unparalleled tool interoperability on the PCplatform.

MOTIVE for Windows and XTK for Windows are Quad's fully-featured
workstation tools available for the first time for Windows NT and Windows
95 platforms at comparable UNIX performance levels.

Larry Rubin, Quad Design president and Viewlogic Chief Technology Officer,
stated, "We are really offering the best of both worlds toour customers.
They now have their choice of remaining strictly UNIXusers, becoming PC
users, or mixing the two platforms - - all without any compromise of
capabilities or performance. We expect the new Windows tools to be a huge
success in the market."

MOTIVE for Windows is the most comprehensive timing analysis tool onthe PC
today, providing the first true min-max timing analysis on Windows as well
as the broadest ASIC vendor support. MOTIVE, the industry de facto
standard timing analysis tool, quickly and efficiently analyzes timing
behavior in ASICs and digital systems.

Quad's proprietary algorithms exhaustively trace delay paths in ASICs,
FPGAs, and PCBs over the "worst case" range of component tolerances.
MOTIVE identifies paths that will cause circuit failures and pinpoints
where those failures will occur. Product features include Global Slack
reporting, timing model generation, and I/O path tracing. It is especially
well-suited for analysis of deep submicron ASICs with delay modeling
constructs and a subset Verilog API (Applications Programming Interface)
that allows integration of custom delaycalculators.

Quad Design's XTK, the industry's leading signal integrity tool, will be
available for Workview Office as XTK for Windows. Designed to predict the
effects of signal distortions on the performance of ICs and PCBs, XTK
features include Monte Carlo analysis, which provides users with a
statistical method for predicting worst case combinations of effects of
random parametric variations in semiconductor components; and Topview, a
layout topology viewer that allows the userto graphically view and measure
problem net layout independent of theparent PCB layout tool. XTK also
includes two subset programs: XFX and XNS.

XFX uses designers' conductor geometry data to calculate signal line
characteristics for all traces in a given configuration and determines the
degree of crosstalk and other distortions that will affect each set of
parallel traces in a circuit network. XNS uses this information to
simulate the network waveforms designers can anticipate when circuits or
PCBs are built.

MOTIVE for Windows is scheduled for availability in November, 1995. XTK for
Windows is scheduled for availability in Q1 of 1996.

Workview Office includes the entire Viewlogic suite of traditional PC-based
design tools, re-engineered to conform to the Microsoft Windows
environment and offer tool interoperability via Microsoft object linking
and embedding (OLE 2.0). The first release of Workview Office is scheduled
for availability in September, 1995.
