AT&T Now Offers Sybase Products as Part of Its Customer Focused Solutions

New Sybase and AT&T Systems Integration Agreement Enables AT&T to Integrate
and Resell Sybase Software With its Client/Server Solutions

EMERYVILLE, CA, September 6, 1995 -- Sybase, Inc., the Enterprise
Client/Server Company, today announced a systems integration agreement
with AT&Ts computer unit that enables AT&T to integrate and resell Sybase
database, tools, and interoperability products with its hardware platform
products. Under the terms of the agreement, AT&T can now act as a single
point of contact for its customers for the purchase and implementation of
customized and bundled client/server solutions based on Sybases products,
key Sybase partner applications, AT&T hardware, and professional
services.

With this agreement, AT&T joins Sybases Open Solutions third party program
as an Open Solutions systems integrator. The agreement enables Sybase to
strengthen its position in vertical markets-retail, financial, and
communications-where AT&T has a focused marketing effort. Initially
targeted to customers in North America, the agreement will extend globally
throughout 1995 in order to leverage AT&Ts strength in international
markets.

"This new agreement further builds upon the long, well-established
relationship Sybase has had with AT&T, a key Sybase Open Solutions
partner, said David Sohm, vice president of channels and partner
marketing. Our systems integration agreement with AT&T enables Sybase to
broaden into additional sales channels by leveraging the strong global
presence of AT&T. The combination of the open and flexible Sybase database
architecture with the powerful AT&T platforms and AT&T professional
services provides a superior client/server solution to a broad base of
customers.

AT&T customers will significantly benefit from our strong relationship with
Sybase, said Mark Hurd, vice president of marketing for computers &
communications at AT&T Global Information Solutions. Sybase provides us
with the powerful database products and interoperability tools our
customers require for their mission-critical decision support systems.
With the Sybase agreement, AT&T is now a single resource customers can
rely upon to deliver enterprise client/server solutions for data
warehousing and on-line transaction processing.

The Agreement

With the agreement, AT&T now offers comprehensive client/server solutions
comprised of the AT&T scalable Intel/UNIX client/server architecture based
on uniprocessor, multiprocessing, or massively parallel processing
systems, AT&T professional services, and the complete line of Sybase
products, including SQL Server, Navigation Server, Replication Server, and
Enterprise CONNECT.

In addition, AT&T is offering three models of the AT&T server family which
are pre-installed with Sybase WorkGroup SQL Server for NT, the Windows NT
operating system from Microsoft, and other Windows NT utilities. The
development system is targeted at customers doing initial testing and
development with Windows NT and Sybase SQL Server, as well as customers
looking for a high performance database system that can interoperate with
their enterprise systems architecture.

Financial applications from Dun & Bradstreet Software and Platinum
Software, both Sybase Open Solutions Partners, are offered as options to
the AT&T/Sybase solutions. The financial accounting solutions offered by
the combination of Sybase, AT&T, and third party application vendors
complement both Sybase and AT&Ts strategy of offering client/server
solutions best suited to customers needs.

Sybase and AT&T Work Together

The agreement encourages both Sybase and AT&T sales representatives to work
closely together to meet the client/server needs of customers. In
addition, Sybase plans to train a core team of AT&T technical consultants
and support personnel on Sybases products through its Sybase Open
Solutions Technology Education Program (STEP), an accelerated educational
program designed to provide third-party partners with advanced proficiency
in Sybases technology.

Sybase and AT&T Global Information Solutions History

Sybase's core products, including Sybase SQL Server on AT&T's server
family. Together, the two companies jointly developed the Sybase
Navigation Server, currently available on the AT&T multiprocessing
platforms. Other joint engineering efforts have focused on providing
products optimized for the AT&T server family, including the optimization
of SQL Server on AT&T's symmetric multiprocessing systems, as proven by
two world class TPC-C price/performance ratios.
