NEW VERSION OF SPYGLASS WEB CLIENT SHIPS TO CUSTOMERS; PRODUCT'S RICH
FEATURE SET GIVES CUSTOMERS COMPETITIVE EDGE

NAME CHANGES FROM ENHANCED MOSAIC TO SPYGLASS MOSAIC

Naperville, Ill. -- Tuesday, September 12, 1995 -- Spyglass Inc. (NASDAQ:
SPYG) announced today that it has begun customer deliveries of the latest
release of its World-Wide Web client technology to more than 30 OEMs, VARs
and distributors. The new version for Windows, the Macintosh and UNIX,
which was announced earlier this month, will be embedded in some 80
products distributed by customers such as Corel Corp., Digital Equipment
Corp., FTP Software Inc., Oracle Corp. and O'Reilly & Associates. End-user
products featuring the new version are expected to be available as early
as October of this year.

Spyglass also announced today that beginning with this release the Web
client, formerly called Enhanced Mosaic, will be called "Spyglass Mosaic."
Company executives said they changed the name to clear up confusion and to
ensure that people understood that Spyglass Mosaic is the commercial-grade
version developed by Spyglass of the original NCSA Mosaic product.

"Spyglass Mosaic 2.1 represents the very latest Web-client technology,"
said Dan Johnson, product manager for Spyglass. "This release will give
our customers the features they need to be competitive in the marketplace
-- features based on their input and their recommendations. With our
business model, we're in a unique position to work directly with customers
to develop flexible technology that enables them to build competitive
products."

Spyglass licenses Spyglass Mosaic technology directly to customers who add
value then redistribute their products with the technology embedded in
them. One example of an end user product is The Mosaic Handbook from
O'Reilly & Associates, which comes with a bundled copy of the browser for
$29.95 (SRP). Oracle will embed Enhanced Mosaic 2.1 technology in future
Internet products.

Spyglass Mosaic 2.1 offers several new improvements and builds on a number
of enhancements first introduced in the previous version, Enhanced Mosaic
2.0, released early this year. The new release is designed to meet demands
from its broad-base of customers for greater flexibility in presentation
and formatting; easy, secure transactions; better performance and
internationalization.
