NETSCAPE ANNOUNCES NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR GOLD 2.0

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (September 18, 1995) -- Netscape Communications
Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today introduced Netscape Navigator Gold 2.0, a
next-generation software tool that enables everyone to easily create,
edit, and navigate live online documents. The product combines the
Netscape Navigator 2.0 environment with WYSIWYG document creation
capabilities, making it easy for users to publish live content on the
World Wide Web, electronic mail, and news groups.

Netscape Navigator Gold is among an array of Netscape products announced
today that deliver a new level of interactivity to users accessing or
sharing information on the Internet or enterprise networks. The new
products expand Netscape's client/server software line, designed to link
people and information, into a full application platform for enterprise
networks and the Internet.

"Just as word processing software opened up the world of desktop publishing
to anyone, Netscape Navigator Gold makes every online user an Internet
publisher," said Mike Homer, vice president of marketing at Netscape.
"Netscape Navigator Gold brings online communications to everyone by
enabling users to not only navigate online content, but to also create,
edit, and post hypermedia documents -- all from within the user-friendly
Netscape Navigator environment."

Available for all popular desktop environments, Netscape Navigator Gold 2.0
integrates online live document creation capabilities into Netscape
Navigator 2.0, a powerful and easy-to-use environment that combines secure
point-and-click network navigation, electronic mail, threaded discussion
groups, and other Internet services in a seamlessly integrated package.
Netscape Navigator Gold lets users cut and paste or drag and drop elements
onto a page -- just as they would in a personal computer word processing
application -- and use the point- and-click capabilities of Netscape
Navigator to post the document. Documents can be posted to a Web server or
news group, or sent out as an email message.

In addition to the rich features of Netscape Navigator 2.0, Netscape
Navigator Gold's Internet document creation capabilities include:

TRUE WYSIWYG HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE (HTML) EDITING integrated into the
Netscape Navigator environment.

CUT-AND-PASTE TEXT, IMAGE, AND LIVE OBJECT INSERTION, making it easy to
create rich, live content.

VISUAL FORM DESIGN, allowing users to create a form by just dragging and
dropping elements such as text boxes, scrolling lists, navigation buttons
and more onto a page

RICH LAYOUT CAPABILITIES including support for Frames, a new page
presentation capability in Netscape Navigator 2.0 that enables the display
of multiple, independently scrollable cells on a single screen; and HTML
3.0 tables and backdrops.

NETSCAPE INLINE VIEWERS SUPPORT, enabling users to create documents that
include multimedia data types such as Apple QuickTime movies or Adobe
Acrobat documents. Users simply insert and position the multimedia data
within the document.

A PROGRAM EDITOR, allowing users to add support for HTML tags or other
features not built into the Netscape Navigator environment.

Netscape Navigator Gold provides a common feature set and graphical user
interface across computers running the Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, or X
Window System operating environments. The product is optimized to run
smoothly over 14.4 kilobit/second modems as well as higher bandwidth
lines. All of Netscape's products are based on industry standards and
protocols, and are compatible with other World Wide Web browsers and
servers.

In conjunction with Netscape Navigator Gold 2.0, Netscape also announced
that it will offer an upgrade program that enables users to purchase
Netscape Navigator 1.1 or 1.2 today and upgrade without charge to Netscape
Navigator 2.0 or Netscape Navigator Gold 2.0 when they become available.
Because it includes both Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 versions of Netscape
Navigator, the upgrade program lets PC users upgrade to Windows 95 at
their own pace. Upgrade pricing will be announced later this month.

Netscape Navigator Gold will be available for Macintosh, Windows, and X
Window System operating environments in the fourth quarter of 1995. The
product can be directly from Netscape and Netscape authorized resellers.
Pricing starts at $79, which includes a 90- day warranty and customer
support. Volume discounts are available for multiple user licenses.
