SEVENTH ANNUAL EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE IS BIGGER THAN EVER

Sold Out Show Floor And First-Time Ever Vendor Technical Sessions Add To
The Excitement Of The Embedded Systems Conference

San Francisco -- August 30, 1995 -- Miller Freeman Inc. said today that the
seventh annual Embedded Systems Conference and Exhibition will be the
largest in the show's history. More than 37,000 square feet of exhibit
space is sold out, compared to 24,000 square feet last year, and attendees
can count on seeing a comprehensive collection of products and services
for the embedded electronics market at the San Jose Convention Center,
September 12-15.

"The tremendous response to the expanded exhibit space reflects both the
growth of the industry and ESC's reputation as the premier conference,
exclusively dedicated to embedded systems," said Ted Bahr, vice president
of the Electronics Division at Miller Freeman, Inc. "We're expecting an
exciting four days of educational opportunities and news."

The Embedded Systems Conference program offers more than 100 classes and
tutorial sessions, presented by leading experts in the embedded systems
industry. The extensive exhibition and in-depth program continue to make
this the industry's most important event for tracking developments in the
rapidly growing market for embedded microprocessors. This year's
conference kicks off on an entertaining note with an address by cartoonist
Scott Adams, creator of the popular "Dilbert" comic strip.

For the first time ever, a special schedule of vendor technical sessions,
in addition to the regularly scheduled classes, has been added to the
conference program. Dozens of companies including Sun Microsystems, IBM,
and Hewlett-Packard, will host 47 sessions addressing product-related
issues for engineers designing embedded systems.

Additionally, a number of exhibiting companies are expected to make news
announcements and present new products at the event. Datalight, a twelve
year old company that develops and markets operating systems for embedded
PCs, has scheduled a press briefing at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September
13. The company will unveil a new Windows compatible embedded operating
system that allows developers to create programs using standard Windows
development tools.

At 2:00 p.m. on the same day, Newbridge Microsystems will also hold a press
briefing. The company, the division of Newbridge Networks Corporation,
specializing in the design and manufacture of Openbus Interface
Components, will announce the latest addition to their family of PCI
bridge devices for embedded PowerPC controllers. Motorola Inc. has also
reserved a private room for press meetings throughout the conference.

The Embedded Systems Conference is the premier industry event for embedded
systems software and hardware professionals. It is presented by Miller
Freeman, Inc., publisher of EMBEDDED SYSTEMS PROGRAMMING and the nation's
third largest trade show producer. A wholly-owned subsidiary of United
News and Media, plc of London, England, the company produces dozens of
electronics and software conferences and trade shows, including Embedded
Systems Conference East, PCB Design Conference, Surface Mount
International, Autodesk University Conference and Exhibition, MechanCAD,
Communication Design Engineering Conference and OS/2 World Conference and
Exhibition.
