LOTUS AND INTEL DELIVER PC CONFERENCING FOR LOTUS NOTES

IBM TO SUPPORT INTEL PROSHARE TECHNOLOGY

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 21, 1995 -- Lotus Development Corp. and Intel
Corporation today announced the immediate availability of RealTime Notes,
a product that delivers integrated conferencing for Lotus Notes based on
Intel ProShare personal conferencing technology. IBM also announced plans
to support Intel's ProShare technology. RealTime Notes makes it easier for
people to connect their computers for data and video conferences and work
together as if they were in the same location. The integration of
groupware and personal conferencing will significantly enhance the value
of Lotus Notes, improving the business performance of people working
together and the quality of everyday business processes.

Today's announcement includes new functions that allow Lotus Notes users to
share computer files and applications simultaneously from wherever they
are working. With an available upgrade, users can even see each other on
their computer screens in videoconference sessions.

For example, a user can prepare a memo or presentation with a co- worker
who is in a remote office or hotel thousands of miles away. Both users
view the same information on their computer screens and instantaneously
see any changes made by the other person as they are made.

IBM AND INTEL PROSHARE TECHNOLOGY

In addition, IBM made the following announcements relative to ProShare
technology:

o IBM intends to offer ProShare technology on its OS/2 operating system.
For customers who want conferencing solutions for the Windows environment,
ProShare technology will be the IBM preferred offering. oIBM's Consumer
Division intends to preload ProShare conferencing on selected models of
its award-winning Aptiva personal computer line in 1996.

o IBM plans to actively market ProShare conferencing with its mobile and
commercial desktop PCs. IBM intends to provide this capability in response
to customer requests, through a variety of distribution options such as
preloads, CD-ROM, and electronic distribution.

REALTIME NOTES

The result of an agreement between Lotus and Intel announced in August
1994, RealTime Notes includes Intel's ProShare Premier Edition software
for PC-based audio and data conferencing. This allows live desktop-
to-desktop collaboration, extending Notes' groupware capabilities.
RealTime Notes users who also have the Intel ProShare Video Systems can
also initiate a ProShare video conference from within RealTime Notes. By
using RealTime Notes, users will be able to combine the workgroup
computing power of Notes with integrated data and video conferencing
capabilities to save time, get immediate feedback and gain faster
consensus.

RealTime Notes is included at no additional cost with new purchases of
Notes 3.x clients for Windows through December 1995. Users can add
videoconferencing capability to RealTime Notes through a special ProShare
Video upgrade offer available from Intel. IBM plans to offer RealTime
Notes over its IBM Global Network in the future. At NetWorld/Interop,
September 27-29 in Atlanta, RealTime Notes will be displayed at both the
Lotus and Intel exhibits.

"This product, the result of a strategic business relationship between
Intel and Lotus, gives Notes customers another way to get connected and
improve the way they work in the office, on the road or at home," said
Jeff Papows, vice president of the Lotus Communications Business Group.
"By including RealTime Notes, at no additional charge, in all new licenses
of Notes through the end of this year, we're offering an especially strong
incentive for customers to purchase and deploy Notes as soon as
possible."

"The combination of ProShare conferencing and Lotus Notes signals a
fundamental shift in the use of PCs towards real-time communications. With
the commitment of one of the largest PC suppliers in the world to
incorporate these capabilities, we are taking a significant step towards
making "PC" stand for Personal Communications," said Patrick Gelsinger,
vice president and general manager of Intel's Personal Conferencing
Division.

"Chase Manhattan Bank has made a strategic investment in Lotus Notes as our
primary communications on the desktop," said Craig Goldman, Chief
Information Officer, Chase Manhattan Bank. "We are currently using Intel
ProShare's real-time desktop conferencing for time-sensitive business
communications, and developing custom ProShare applications to expand
services to our customers. I am excited about RealTime Notes and the
integration of Notes and ProShare products as a way to improve our bottom
line and provide our customers with superior service and products."

FEATURES OF REALTIME NOTES

Following are highlights of features contained in RealTime Notes.

-- Application Sharing: Over a LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area
Network), or telephone line, users can work together interactively

-- editing the same file even if the application program exists on only one
user's personal computer.

-- Conference-enabled Address Book: A conference-enabled version of the
familiar, easy to use Notes address book is provided to support real-time
conferencing needs. The RealTime Notes address book database contains
name, address, and connection information for fully automated initiation
of real-time conferencing sessions.

-- Conference Journal: To facilitate record keeping, copies of conference
documents can be maintained as confidential documents or shared with
others.

-- RealTime Notes SmartIcons: Direct access to desktop conferencing is
provided from Notes with a mouse click on an icon. Intuitive ease-of-use
design minimizes training needs.

-- Conferencing Developers Tool: Application developers can use DLL
(Dynamic Link Libraries) to add RealTime Notes conferencing to new or
existing custom Notes applications. This will enable Notes application
developers to incorporate PC-based conferencing into the business
solutions they offer to their customers.
