NOVELL SELECTS FULCRUM SOFTWARE TO ASSIST WITH GLOBAL DELIVERY OF TECHNICAL
SUPPORT

Enterprise-Wide Solution Includes Use Of Fulcrum Surfboard By Customers
Accessing Novell's Netwire On The Internet

OTTAWA, CANADA, SEPTEMBER 5, 1995 -- Fulcrum Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:
FULCF), a leader in the market for content-based retrieval software, today
announced that Novell will license Fulcrum SearchServer, Fulcrum's
flagship content-based retrieval software, for use by Novell's
professionals who provide customer support for Novell and all Novell
products worldwide. In addition, Novell will license Fulcrum Surfboard to
provide searching capabilities to customers browsing through the NetWire
on the Internet, Novell's on-line technical information service.

"Novell took the selection process seriously and conducted a very thorough
evaluation process," said Mike Laginski, Fulcrum's chief operating
officer. "That makes Novell's choice of Fulcrum a tremendously gratifying
vote of confidence in our products and their suitability for complete,
enterprise-wide solutions."

"Ease of integration was a key factor in this win," Laginski added,
"because Novell is also using products like Sybase databases and Vantive's
helpdesk system in its overall customer support solution."

Novell will integrate Fulcrum's content-based text-retrieval software into
its helpdesk by late in the 1995 calendar year. Novell's NetWire on the
Internet homepage (http://www.novell.com) will be indexed and available
for searching with Fulcrum Surfboard within the same timeframe.
