MARINE FIGHTERS

Vertical Take Off and Landings Now Available in U.S. Navy Fighters
Expansion Disk

SAN MATEO, Calif., August 28, 1995 -- Top ten hit U.S. Navy Fighters is
credited by some as setting the flight sim standard for 1995. Now
experience the excitement of Vertical/Short Take Off & Landing (V/STOL)
technology in the long-awaited add-on disk Marine Fighters for PC CD.
Internet communication has allowed the Electronic Arts design team to
incorporate extensive consumer response into the expansion disk.

With 35 new missions. Marine Fighters offers all the high-G excitement,
graphic beauty, and audio sophistication of the original game, but adds an
important new feature -- the ability to fly three V/STOL airplanes that
revolutionized air warfare: the U.S. Marine AV-8B Harrier II, the British
FRS.Mk 2 Sea Harrier, and the Russian Yak-141 Freestyle fighter.

Along with normal forward flight, the aircraft feature vectoring nozzles on
the engine that allow them to hover like a helicopter. Players will
discover the many advantages of vectored flight as they operate from short
landing strips or VIFF (Vectoring In Forward Flight) to out maneuver
high-performance MiGs.

As an added bonus, you'll get to fly the AC-130U Spectre Gunship on a
series of ground attack missions. Master the overwhelming firepower of
this unique weapon system as you blast armored columns with your battery
of 105mm, 40mm, and 25mm cannons.

The 35 challenging new missions set over the Kuril Island chain in the sea
of Japan utilize new weapons such as Snakeye retarded bombs, and LAU10 and
LAU16 rocket pods.

Campaign Background

Spring, 1997. A new reactionary government in Russia is threatening the
independent states of the former Soviet Union. At the same time, the USS
Wasp is participating in joint exercises with British pilots in the Sea of
Japan. The Marines are testing the functionality of a composite air wing
made up of AV-8B Night Attack Harriers and British FRS.Mk 2 Sea Harriers.
In a nod to America's new ukrainian allies, a number of VTOL YaK-141s has
joined in the operations.

Suddenly war breaks out in Eastern Europe. When the U.S. comes to the aid
of the Ukrainians, the Russians attempt to divert US assets from the
European theater by harassing allied shipping in the Sea of Japan and the
Northwest Pacific. Operating from bases in the Kuril Island chain, Russian
fighter-bombers begin inflicting serious damage on US, Korean, Japanese,
and Taiwanese commercial transports. With little time or resources
available, the Wasp is called in to protect international commerce.

The Russians have occupied the southern islands of Kunashir, Shikotan, and
Iturup since 1945, and the Japanese have never given up their claim of
ownership. The U.S. promises to invade and capture the Kurils in return
for active Japanese participation in the war effort.

As the game starts, U.S. Marines have captured Kunashir and Shikotan, and
troops have landed on Iturup. U.S. forces occupy roughly half of this last
island, including a former Russian airbase. As a Marine pilot aboard the
Wasp, the player must fly 35 missions with the objective of achieving air
superiority over the region and wresting control of the Kuril Islands.
During the campaign you'll experience a wide variety of fighter and strike
missions: close support and interdiction, combat air patrols, anti-ship
strikes, suppression of enemy air defenses, and more.

Marine Fighters is available now with an SRP of $29.95. Because the new
terrain is so rich in detail, the minimum RAM requirements is 8Mb, please
see other system requirements below.
