CRESCENT ANNOUNCES NEW OLE COMPONENT VERSIONS OF ITS ENTIRE PRODUCT FAMILY

Crescent's OLE Component Products Extend and Enhance Capabilities of Visual
Basic 4.0

Bedford, Massachusetts, September 12, 1995 -- The Crescent Division of
Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced the
availability of the OLE Custom Controls (OCX) versions of its full product
line. These OLE component products support 16-bit and 32-bit programming
environments, are compatible with both Microsoft Visual Basic 4.0 and
Microsoft Windows 95, and provide support for OLE 2.0. Crescent's OLE
components will enable corporate developers to build increasingly
sophisticated business applications in their language of choice -- Visual
Basic.

"Visual Basic users have eagerly awaited the availability of Version 4.0,
particularly because of the many new enhancements designed to boost its
enterprise development capabilities," said Jennifer J. Bergantino,
director of the Crescent Division. "Likewise, the Crescent customer base
has expressed great interest in the OLE component versions of all our
products, so they can more easily build robust, 'run-the-business'-type
applications. We look forward to continuing to partner with Microsoft to
deliver the powerful tools and components developers need to build more
rigorous corporate applications in Visual Basic."
