CRESCENT ANNOUNCES ENHANCED POWERPAK PRO* FOR VISUAL BASIC 4.0

POWERPAK PRO 2.0 NEW PRODUCTS AND FUNCTIONALITY IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY OF
VISUAL BASIC CORPORATE DEVELOPERS

Bedford, Massachusetts, September 12, 1995 -- The Crescent Division of
Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced a new version
of PowerPak Pro, the industry-standard suite of professional Visual Basic
development tools. Combining tools from Crescent and other leading vendors
with single-source support has increasingly made PowerPak Pro the choice
of corporate Microsoft Visual Basic developers. PowerPak Pro Release 2.0
features enhanced application development capabilities through the
inclusion of a new programming tool, Attila VB/Professional* from New
Technology Solutions, Inc. PowerPak Pro 2.0 also provides full support for
Visual Basic 4.0 and Windows 95.

Attila VB/Professional enables developers to establish and enforce default
property settings and control naming standards in advance for each tool in
the Visual Basic ToolBox. These standards are then applied automatically
at design time. This aids corporate development teams in crafting
applications with a consistent "look and feel" in their VB code across
applications, departments and entire enterprises.

"We believe Crescent's bundling of the best, industry-leading tools into
PowerPak Pro 2.0 addresses the programming and development requirements
necessary to build robust corporate applications," said Dan Mezick,
president of New Technology Solutions, Inc. "We are excited about working
with Crescent to provide developers with tools and components to enhance
VB4 development. Crescent's selection of Attila* will allow us to reach a
broader audience within the corporate market."

PowerPak Pro 2.0 represents Crescent's first major upgrade to the product,
combining the best commercially-available Visual Basic tools and
components to boost team productivity during the development and
deployment of corporate and client/server applications.

"Visual Basic programmers are demanding increased functionality to develop
more robust business applications -- and those customers look to
sophisticated providers like Crescent to deliver that power," said
Jennifer J. Bergantino, director of the Crescent Division. "PowerPak Pro
Release 2.0 combines 'best-of-breed' tools from leading vendors to create
a solid Visual Basic workbench. Version 1 of PowerPak Pro has already been
selected by a significant number of corporate users as their standard
Visual Basic toolset. We believe the productivity enhancements of PowerPak
Pro 2.0 will make this product even more attractive to corporate Visual
Basic users."
