Compaq Turns Up Volume in Home PC Market With TV Ad Blitz Focusing On PC
Leader's Impact on People's Lives -- New Campaign Asks: "Compaq -- Has it
Changed Your Life Yet?"

NEW YORK, September 13, 1995 -- Stepping up its effort to extend the
company's lead in the personal computer market, Compaq Computer
Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today unveiled a bold, new fall television
advertising campaign focusing on the dramatic impact Compaq's home PCs are
having on people's lives.

The campaign, which asks, "Compaq -- Has it changed your life yet?" was
previewed today at a New York press conference in conjunction with the
launch of new Compaq Presario home PCs that deliver breakthroughs in the
multimedia experience. The television advertisements will begin airing
nationally in November. The campaign was created by the NY-based ad
agency, Ammarti and Puris/Lintas.

"This new ad campaign focuses on Compaq's leadership in developing and
delivering personal computers that truly are enriching our lives -- for
every member of the family, at home or at school, for education or
entertainment," said Jim Garrity, Compaq's vice president of
communications. "The advertising campaign highlights the innovations that
enable Compaq PCs to literally change people's lives for the better."

The new advertising campaign is the latest in a series of moves by Compaq
aimed at increasing the company's lead in the PC market. The new Presario
home PCs introduced today strengthened the company's leadership position
in the rapidly growing consumer market. These new PCs -- a broad line of
competitively priced, feature-packed computers for the entire family --
combine innovative audio and video technology that surpasses any other
home PC on the market today. Compaq's new Presario home computers include
the Presario 7100 desktop PC, designed for novices, and the Presario 5500
Series all-in-one computer and the Presario 9500 Series minitower, which
are ideal for more sophisticated users. The Presario 5500 and Presario
9500 include Compaq TrueQ Sound and Motion -- a Compaq exclusive -- which
dramatically improves and enriches multimedia performance for games,
educational applications and other software.
