New Service Redefines Traditional Picture Processing With Real-Time
Generation Online

Vienna, VA, August 21, 1995 -- America Online, Inc. today introduced
PicturePlace (keyword: PicturePlace), the first online photo service that
enables members to quickly, easily and cost-effectively share photographs
electronically with family and friends. Within 24-hours of receiving
members' prints, slides and negatives, PicturePlace will digitize and
deliver the photographs online without the added expense or limitations of
traditional scanners or disk-based solutions. PicturePlace is a partner of
the AOL Greenhouse, a business unit of America Online that supports
entrepreneurs in the creation of ground-breaking interactive content
developed exclusively for the online medium.

Features

PictureAlbums - PicturePlace allows users to store unlimited numbers of
pictures in PictureAlbums without using valuable hard drive space. For
$24.95 members can store up to 100 photos for 1 year.

PictureCircles - Members can share pictures with friends, family, business
associates or the world with PictureCircles. Members can define unlimited
numbers of online users giving them access to the same photos and
interactively work with their pictures to create a variety of
picture-based products ranging from files to add to word processing,
content for Web Pages, to printed or online greeting cards. PictureCircles
are available for $9.95 for one year.

Additional features include company-sponsored service areas with photo
contests, advice from professional photographers, product information, and
graphic utilities for converting picture files into word processing and
various formats including greeting cards.

For a cost of $.99 per photo (with no minimum requirement) digitized images
are available online for downloading within 24 hours after receipt of the
originals at PicturePlace. Digitized images are sent to AOL members via
email.

All charges for PicturePlace services will be billed to the members' credit
card of choice.

The AOL Greenhouse provides Picture Place with access to more than 3.5
million AOL members, Internet publishing support, online production
support including full utilization of AOL's publishing tools, online
