Weekly World News Debuts on America Online

Vienna, VA. -- September 28, 1995 -- NOSTRADAMUS PREDICTS WORST STORMS IN
U.S. HISTORY! ... BIGFOOT SHOT AND KILLED IN MONTANA! ... STATUE OF ANGEL
FOUND IN MOON ROCK ... HOW TO BE RICHER A YEAR FROM NOW!

American Media and America Online, Inc. announced today that Weekly World
News, America's most exciting newspaper has teamed up with America Online
to produce the first-ever online supermarket tabloid.

Weekly World News will combine the raw energy of its newspaper with the
interactive power of AOL to create an electronic environment packed with
drama, humor, advice, inspiration and pure shock value.

AOL subscribers will trade barbs with Ed Anger, America's most outrageous
columnist. They'll get advice on love and marriage from Dotti Primrose, a
gal who uses words the way George Foreman uses left jabs. Superstar
psychic and astrologer Serena Sabak is set to answer questions in the
world's only cosmic chat room. Subscribers will also get the opportunity
to reveal their most humiliating experiences, swap diet tips and share
scary stories on the WWN message boards.

"We're proud of our stories and thrilled to bring them to an entirely new
audience," said Leskie Pinson, one of the WWN editors who helped design
the new online publication. "We realized early on that we wanted a
landscape unique to the online experience. We're filling the place with
space aliens, vampires, Bigfoot, Bat Boy and a few surprises that will
stun our regular readers."

"We're providing Weekly World News online for all those people who've never
purchased the paper at the supermarket checkout lane," said Ted Leonsis,
president of America Online Services Company. "Now, they can read those
scandalous stories they've been missing all these years. We think this
romping journalistic entertainment will be a fun counterpoint to the
comprehensive news we offer on AOL."

Weekly World News has a circulation of 500,000 and a readership estimated
at 2,000,000. The paper, which began publishing in 1979, is distributed in
the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom. Foreign language versions of the
tabloid are published in France, Spain, Portugal, Russia, The Czech
Republic, Slovakia and Poland. In Japan, five best-selling books and two
network TV specials have explored WWN stories and photos.

In January 1996 USA Network will premiere "Weekly World News On
Television." The weekly show is slated to be part of the network's
blockbuster Saturday-night lineup. Executive Producer Kathy Kloves is
creating the show for New World Entertainment.

"We'll have a wide range of cross-promotional possibilities when we couple
our TV show's fans with the America Online audience," said WWN editor Tim
Skelly. "We're thinking about a chat room that's devoted to the show. Of
course, both projects will be promoted in print ads and editorial
tie-ins."
