XSoft Adds New Windows Clients and NetWare Support to InConcert Workflow
Software

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 26, 1995 - The XSoft division of Xerox Corporation
today announced that it has added a new set of Windows-based clients, as
well as NetWare support to its InConcert workflow software. The new
InConcert version 3.0 delivers the full power of InConcert's
production-level workflow capabilities to the PC desktop, enabling
managers to initiate workflows and manage business processes via an
intuitive Windows interface.

With support for Novell NetWare environments, InConcert now works
seamlessly across most popular industry-standard computing systems and
offers extensive application integration capabilities. The software is
designed for flexibility and integration with industry standard SQL
databases and other software, enabling companies to integrate popular
third-party applications such as word processors, spreadsheets, image
viewers, and electronic mail into the overall process. InConcert is fully
scalable and can support workgroups from tens to thousands of users.

Aimed at high-value, process- or document-intensive applications, InConcert
enables companies to analyze, compress and manage the key business
processes that determine productivity and contribute to competitive
advantage.

The InConcert PC client interface has been enhanced to provide a
full-function Windows client. New client interface modules allow users to
easily create and manage workflows. The new modules also enable VARs and
systems integrators to create custom interfaces best suited for their
vertical applications.

Production-class workflow systems have proven track records for improving
productivity and handling large volumes of work, but have traditionally
required high levels of technical expertise to develop and integrate their
applications and services, said Tom Dwyer, general manager of XSoft's
workflow group. With NetWare support and new Windows clients, InConcert
makes it easier for managers to build and manage workflows. Now,
businesses can afford to bring processes online using low cost PCs and
make incremental changes to their workflows without having to undergo a
large-scale reengineering effort.

Open and Adaptive

InConcert's open workflow architecture enables organizations to accurately
model and effectively manage their unique business processes without
imposing pre-defined structures or rules. Unlike other workflow systems,
InConcert allows for dynamic workflow modification, so managers can change
and adapt processes on-the-fly to handle exceptions and to better respond
to changing business conditions. Intelligent agent programs can also be
set up to automatically structure and launch work processes.

Optus Communications, Inc., an Australia-based telecommunications firm, is
planning to use InConcert to automate and integrate multiple concurrent
processes. InConcert's flexible maintenance environment will enable us to
continually improve some of our business processes without disrupting
workplace productivity, said David Martin, business infrastructure manager
for Optus. We are a customer focused organization with an aim to free
staff's time in order to respond quickly to customers' changing needs.

Earlier this year, XSoft announced that Japan-based Toshiba Corporation is
distributing InConcert in Japan. Toshiba localized InConcert for the
Japanese market and has standardized on it as the workflow engine for its
WorkVision office application system.

Novell NetWare Support

InConcert's network support has been expanded to include Novell's LAN
WorkPlace for DOS, the leading NetWare protocol supplied by Novell
distributors. This enables process designers to create and manage
InConcert applications in NetWare environments, and allows users to access
data stored in Novell file repositories. InConcert also continues to
support NetManage's NetChameleonNFS, Sun RPC, and Sun PC-NFS.

New Windows-based Client Modules

The Process Designer module provides a palette of intuitive, graphical
mapping tools that allows business analysts and workflow designers to
easily create new workflows on Windows-based PCs. The module enables
designers to define how work is delivered to end-users and create custom
interfaces for specific types of tasks. In building new workflows, users
can easily specify and dynamically modify conditional task execution,
parallel branching, synchronization of tasks, and event-action triggers.
They can instantly see the structure of a business process, the documents
that are being used in that process and any inter-task dependencies.

The Process Manager module enables department-level managers to define
workgroups and allocate resources according to the requirements of a
specific project, as well as monitor workgroup status in real time. The
new interface makes it easier for managers to identify bottlenecks,
analyze progress, and modify business processes on-the-fly. For example,
managers may need to temporarily suspend a workflow in the middle of the
cycle and initiate a new process in order to handle an unexpected project.
Previously, only system administrator-level users had access to these
capabilities on a UNIX workstation.

The Task Organizer module provides a customizable in/out box to help
end-users identify which tasks are ready for the next step in the work
process, and a graphical desktop environment for obtaining needed
documents and applications. Animated, deadline-sensitive icons provide
helpful visual indicators. Users can also create folders for individual
projects and custom task interfaces, such as those required for
forms-driven processes. Almost any type of end-user software interface can
be integrated with InConcert, making it easier for VARs and system
integrators to create interfaces for vertical applications.

Pricing and Availability

InConcert 3.0 is available immediately through XSoft and its network of
distributors, value added resellers, and system integrators. The InConcert
server carries a list price of $14,000. The price for the basic
developer's kit is $2,995. Other developer kit options are available.
InConcert end-user licenses are available starting at $395 for Windows and
$995 for UNIX, with prices decreasing based on quantity purchased. Site
licensing is also available.
