New Product Line, Dramatic Price Cut And Aggressive Distribution Strategy
Shape Web Industry, Fulfilling Huge Market Potential --

Three New Web Server Products Represent A Span Of Price, Performance And
Functionality Unparalleled In the Industry Today --

Process Software Creates Most Comprehensive Distribution Strategy Aimed At

Value-Adding Resellers, Corporate Resellers And Computer Retailers --

FRAMINGHAM, MA., July 24, 1995 -- The hype surrounding the World Wide Web
server market -- reported to reach $500 million by 1997, according to
industry analysts at the Business Research Group (Newton, MA) -- is now a
business reality with a series of industry-shaping new product, price
reduction and distribution announcements from Process Software Corp. In
total, these six major announcements will increase commercial acceptance
of Web technology by providing new product sets spanning a wide
performance, price and functionality range, all supported by a
far-reaching distribution channel.

Separately, the Process Software announcement includes the following:

A 75% price cut, effective immediately, on the Purveyor WebServer for
Windows NT, now available for $495 (US), $595 (outside US), including free
upgrades;

Availability of version 1.1 of the Purveyor WebServer for Windows NT --
offering an expanded feature set, at the new $495 price (US), $595
(outside US) -- for both the Internet presence and Intranet publishing
needs of large corporations;

Announcement of the Purveyor DeskTop WebServer for Windows 95 -- the ideal
Web server for departmental Intranet applications and open groupware--
priced at $295 (US), $355 (outside US);

Announcement of the Purveyor WebServer for OpenVMS -- the first commercial
Web server for the OpenVMS market is suitable for the enterprise-wide Web
requirements of large corporations -- priced at $1,195 (US), $1435
(outside US);

Preview information on future products, which will include an NT Web server
supporting industry encryption standards, and an entry-level Web product,
and;

Details on the Web market's most comprehensive distribution strategy.

According to Business Research Group analyst Greg Cline, market reaction to
these announcements will be intense: Process Software's announcement today
will create sweeping changes in the World Wide Web server software market;
all the players in this emerging industry will be forced to re-evaluate
the features and pricing of their Web server product lines.

Process Software could move further ahead of the competition with its plans
to proliferate Web usage inside corporations, part of the Company's
targeted

Intranet strategy, said Cline. Although the notoriety in the Web market
today focuses on creating a global presence on the Internet, our research
has shown that an equally important opportunity lies in Web usage inside
the corporation, as a platform for open groupware: secure Web servers tied
to corporate LANs can enhance internal communications, promote the
development of inter-departmental applications, and save large
organizations a fortune in publishing costs. Process Software is
well-positioned to capture significant share in this budding market.

A review of Process Software's top competitors, Netscape Communications and
O'Reilly Associates, revealed that the progress of the booming Web server
market was being slowed by these vendors' lack of a full breadth of
products, price points and distribution outlets, according to Process
Software president and CEO Philip Denzer.

The widespread commercial adoption of Web technologies has been limited, to
date, by a modest selection of inconsistently-priced products, with
varying degrees of functionality, available from a limited number of
vendors, Denzer said. As the market matures, hype alone will not guarantee
product sales. We have addressed all these issues with today's
announcement: Process Software now offers an unrivaled range of products,
priced to meet or exceed the market's expectations, which will be
available from hundreds of resellers across the U.S., Europe, and Pacific
Rim.

PROCESS SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES MAJOR PRICE REDUCTION ON PURVEYOR WEBSERVER FOR
WINDOWS NT

On the pricing front, Gene Robinson, senior vice president of marketing,
sales and service at Process Software, pointed to the dramatic price
reduction on the Purveyor WebServer for Windows NT, version 1.0, from
$1,995 to $495.

Since we began shipping Purveyor in March, we have heard from scores of
users wishing to deploy Web technologies more widely throughout their
corporations, as the standard platform for new, open groupware
applications, Robinson said. By significantly lowering the price point for
disseminating information via Web technology, we will help make these
customers' visions a reality.

Robinson also noted that buyers who already own or purchase Purveyor before
September 1995 will be automatically upgraded to version 1.1, at no extra
charge.

FEATURES & PRICING ON NEW PURVEYOR WEBSERVER PRODUCTS

Purveyor WebServer for Windows NT, version 1.1 -- Fact Sheet

In addition to retaining version 1.0's flagship feature set, version 1.1 of
the Purveyor WebServer for Windows NT incorporates features that better
integrate Web technology with the suite of applications included in
Microsoft's BackOffice server environment -- making Purveyor an even more
powerful platform for high-bandwidth Web sites. New tools and services in
version 1.1 will also benefit Internet presence developers.

Five major enhancements have been incorporated in version 1.1:

Virtual Servers - Multiple Site Hosting based on IP Address -- This new
Purveyor feature allows Internet Presence Providers to easily support and
manage multiple homepage sites on the same machine. Each Virtual Server
has its own access control, data directory, traffic and logging
information, and is configurable and accessible via its unique IP address
or domain.

Database Integration -- By integrating the information contained on
corporate databases with Web servers, users accessing the site will be
able to quickly receive much more detailed product and sales information
from the site's hosting organization. Purveyor version 1.1 supports
Microsoft's ODBC and SQL Server.

API Alternative to CGI -- A high-performance application programming
interface developed by Process Software will allow developers to easily
integrate Web technology with new and existing back-end applications.

Enhanced Log Viewer Application and Report Generator -- The enhanced log
viewer program is a GUI-based, point-and-click application that allows
customization and management of information captured in the Purveyor Log
files. The resultant information can also be imported into Microsoft Excel
spreadsheets for generating custom charts and reports.

Search Engine Support -- Software included with the product supports local
text searches of the Web content material for easy access to targeted
information. Utilizing WAIS technology, the resulting HTML output provides
hypertext links to the materials that satisfy the specifications of the
search query.

Additional features of version 1.1 include Remote Administration, a Hotlink
Viewer, and Visual Basic Support.

OpenVMS environment.

Future Products

Process Software also relayed its plans to introduce two additional Web
server products later this year. The first will provide industry-standard
encryption features for the Windows NT product, allowing organizations to
confidently send highly-sensitive data over the Internet.

The last product to be previewed in 1995 will be an aggressively-priced,
entry-level product allowing virtually anyone to publish information via
World Wide Web technology.

PROCESS SOFTWARE'S DISTRIBUTION FOCUS MAKES HEADWAY IN INDIRECT CHANNEL

According to senior vice president Gene Robinson, Process Software's new
Purveyor Partners Program represents the Web server industry's most
comprehensive overture to the indirect channel. Interest in our reseller
recruitment initiative has been tremendous, Robinson said. In the last
three weeks alone, hundreds of VARs and corporate account resellers
worldwide have expressed interest in joining the Purveyor Partners
Program. An integral component of the Purveyor Partners Program is the
company's WebExcellence certification program, which will ensure a
consistent level of quality among Web server software developers using
Purveyor. In addition to benefiting user organizations seeking competent
counsel, this certification will allow Process Software's partners to
differentiate themselves among the increasing number of companies
exploiting the Web's remarkable growth potential.

Developed by Lee Levitt, formerly the director of channels distribution
research at IDC (Framingham, MA), the Purveyor Partners Program is
comprised of four categories:

The Purveyor Authorized Partner Program

Developed primarily for smaller VARs and network integrators looking to
exploit Intra- and Internet-based solutions within their current customer
base.

The Purveyor Premier Partner Program

Developed for larger solutions providers, such as corporate account
resellers and vertically-focused VARs, with the capability to deploy
broad-based solutions using the World Wide Web as an application platform,
e.g., for departmental and enterprise-wide groupware applications.

The Purveyor Internet Presence Provider Program

Developed for partners that host other companies on the World Wide Web, the
goal of this program is to aggressively recruit Internet Presence
Providers and assist them in standardizing on the Purveyor platform via
significant training, support and joint market development activities.

The Purveyor Web Consultant Program

This program will ensure that the many technical consultants engaged in
Information Technology outsourcing are empowered with information and
training on the Purveyor product line -- and are guaranteed appropriate
referrals in both their regional and technical markets.

PROCESS SOFTWARE'S HISTORY AS A LEADING TCP/IP PROVIDER ENABLES THE COMPANY
TO MEET PRODUCT & CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS

For over ten years, Process Software has demonstrated its leadership in the
TCP/IP arena, particularly in Digital OpenVMS customer sites, which are
characterized by mission-critical applications distributed across the
corporate enterprise. The company's expertise with TCP/IP -- the
Internet's core protocol -- combined with its consistent quality in the
demanding OpenVMS market segment enables Process Software to forge ahead
confidently in the WWW sector.

Process Software has been meeting customer demands for over a decade, said
president and CEO Philip Denzer. We have developed a service delivery and
distribution infrastructure that will take our start-up competitors years
to match.

Throughout our history, Process Software has never missed an announced ship
date, Denzer added. We do not believe in announcing 'vaporware;' vendor
promises quickly ring hollow if they are not closely followed by
deliverable products and services, with solid features and pricing.

Process Software already proved itself earlier this year by announcing and
delivering on version 1.0 of Purveyor, the first commercial Web server for
the Windows NT platform, Denzer concluded. By following today's
announcement with an unparalleled set of top-quality Web server products,
we will once again prove our strength to the fast-growing, commercial Web
marketplace.

Note that all prices announced in this press release are suggested end-user
prices. Customer questions or inquiries can be directed to the World Wide

Established in 1984, Process Software Corporation designs, develops and
markets TCP/IP-based networking software solutions worldwide, and backs
all of them with one of the most comprehensive service and support
programs in the industry. Process Software's complete line of TCP/IP
product and service offerings include solutions for the Windows NT,
Windows, and OpenVMS platforms.
