PDI ANNOUNCES THE PRECISION MX VIDEO ENGINE BRINGING REVOLUTIONARY IMAGING
POWER TO THE PC

Redmond, Wash. -- Precision Digital Images today announced the Precision MX
Video Engine, an unparalleled capture, processing, and display solution
for the PCI-bus. Precision MX is one of the first commercial products
available using Texas Instrument's revolutionary "Multimedia Video
Processor" (MVP) chip.

"The combination of the phenomenally fast MVP chip, the PCI-bus, and our
imaging technology has produced a product that has opened tremendous power
for desktop imaging solutions," explained Wayne Smith, PDI's CEO. "This
product provides such a dramatic reduction in the cost of image
processing, it greatly expands the market into areas that were not
possible before. We have already received large contracts for the
Precision MX from companies needing solutions for their products."

The MVP Digital Signal Processor (DSP), introduced last year, is a
powerful, programmable chip optimized for video, audio, and graphics. By
harnessing the power of the MVP, Precision MX can perform computationally
intensive image processing in real-time.

"PDI's engineering team has been developing hardware and software support
for the MVP since before its launch," explained Stuart Milton, PDI's Image
Processing Project Manager. "This gives the Precision MX tremendous
software support that simply isn't currently available elsewhere in the
market."

Precision MX includes a Windows NT driver, a programmer's API, and sample
applications and image files. Management of the MVP is provided by the
Texas Instruments Multitasking Executive or Spectron Microsystems SPOX-KNL
multitasking kernel. The optional SPOX kernel reduces developer efforts to
port applications from other SPOX supported processors to the Precision
MX. Precision MX is also guaranteed 100% compatible with Texas
Instruments' TMS320C80 (MVP) Software Development Tools.

An image processing library, which provides a variety of image processing,
image analysis, arithmetic and graphics functions, is also available from
PDI. Precision MX also supports Eye Image Calculator by Io Industries, a
powerful image processing application for timed capture, play-back,
processing and storage of image sequences.

Precision MX features an analog color capture module, providing standard
and non-stardard video capture. Oversampling of standard signals at four
times the necessary rate provides an optimal signal-to-noise ratio and
ensures the most accurate imaging for demanding applications. Precision MX
supports full color display of high resolution images and can overlay
images to provide a single monitor solution. The Precision MX Video Engine
is fully compliant with the PCI 2.0 specification, with bus mastering
capabilities and support of burst transfer rates to 132 MB/second.
