NOVELL LAUNCHES UPGRADE PROMOTION TO HELP CUSTOMERS MOVE TO NETWARE 4.1

Customers Receive 20 Percent Off Upgrades to NetWare 4.1, Special NetWare
4.1 Training, Opportunity to Go Online with Novell Executives & NetWare 4
Experts

PROVO, UT--July 5, 1995--To make it even easier for customers to discover
how NetWare 4 can help their businesses save money and improve
productivity today, Novell announced that it has reduced the price of
upgrades to NetWare 4.1 by 20 percent through Oct. 31, 1995. Novell is
also helping NetWare customers move to NetWare 4.1 by offering special
NetWare 4.1 training via the NetWare 4.1 First Class event at Novell
Authorized Education Centers (NAECs) worldwide, offering customers the
opportunity to have their NetWare 4 questions answered online by Novell
executives and NetWare 4 experts, and providing easily accessible upgrade
information via the World Wide Web.

The NetWare 4.1 promotion is launching in conjunction with a Novell
GroupWise promotion offering 20 percent off all GroupWise upgrades,
including upgrades from any competitive electronic mail package.

"We're committed to ensuring NetWare customers upgrade to NetWare 4.1,"
said Toby Corey, vice president of marketing for Novell's Operating
Systems Division. "With its combination of price incentives and training
opportunities, the NetWare 4.1 upgrade promotion gives our NetWare 3 and
NetWare 2 customers an ideal opportunity to move to NetWare 4 today. Now
is the time for businesses of all sizes to make their networks even more
cost effective and their employees more productive by moving to NetWare
4."

With approximately 6 million nodes shipped worldwide, NetWare 4 is quickly
becoming the new standard for open client-server computing. According to
IDC, a Framingham, MA-based market research firm, NetWare 4 is the second
best-selling network operating system in the world--second only to
Novell's NetWare 3, the global NOS leader. NetWare 4 builds on the
high-performance, reliable foundation of NetWare 3 to make networks of all
sizes easier to use, easier to administer, and less expensive to own,
operate and maintain. As the only network operating system that provides
the seven essential network services--file, print, directory, security,
messaging, multiprocotol routing and management--NetWare 4.1 lays the
foundation for pervasive computing, connecting people to the information
they need anytime, anyplace. "NetWare 4.1 is the network operating system
that provides the advantages we need to move forward in today's
competitive environment," said Andrew Hartridge, programmer/analyst for
STERIS Corporation. "NetWare 4.1 provides three key benefits that made
upgrading from NetWare 3 the logical choice: it reduces costs, it makes
network administration easier and more effective, and it provides the
network infrastructure that will take us into the next century. We're
confident NetWare 4.1 is the right platform for today and the future."

"With NetWare 4.1, Novell is making it even easier for my customers to
increase the productivity of users and administrators, to get the most out
of their hardware investments, and to migrate from previous versions of
NetWare, said Gary Sudin, President of GSI, a Novell Platinum Reseller in
St. Louis. "We're seeing NetWare 4 benefit customers from all parts of the
spectrum--from a small printing company with one server, for example, to
an electric utility with thousands of nodes. With the price incentives
offered by this promotion, there's never been a better time for NetWare 3
and NetWare 2 customers to upgrade to NetWare 4.1."
