Lotus Announces 1995 Back-To-School Specials

Substantial Discounts on Lotus Desktop Products for Students, Faculty and
Academic Institutions

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., June 28, 1995 -- Lotus Development Corp. today announced
the Back-To-School program, an annual event designed to make Lotus
products even more affordable to students and academic professionals.
Lotus SmartSuite and a special bundle of Lotus Word Pro and Lotus 1-2-3
are available for $149 and $99 respectively to students, educational
institutions, faculty and staff. The program runs from July 1, 1995
through October 31, 1995.

Lotus' market-leading products are ideally suited for students, faculty and
administrators in a collaborative, academic setting, said Alan Minard,
Director of Lotus Academic Marketing. We're committed to supporting the
educational marketplace by providing cost-effective ways for students or
entire academic institutions to purchase the most current software at
great prices.

Lotus SmartSuite is a complete set of six full featured, full function,
Windows versions of Lotus products including: Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet,
Word Pro word processor, Freelance Graphics presentation graphics,
Approach relational database, Lotus Organizer personal information
manager, and ScreenCam, a tool for creating and playing pre-made and
original multimedia files. SmartSuite is also the only complete Lotus
Notes-Ready suite of applications for users who work independently or
collaborate in teams. The Word Pro/1-2-3 bundle also features team
computing capabilities, so students for example, can collaborate on a
joint project using Word Pro's TeamConsolidate to easily combine multiple
edited documents into one.

Academic Passport Provides Optimal Flexibility, Volume Licensing

The Back-To-School program is one of a number of affordable pricing options
offered by Lotus. The Academic Passport Program offers a wide spectrum of
volume licensing discounts to K-12 school districts, colleges and
universities. These flexible options address the diverse needs of all
school types and campus sizes.

* Total Campus Option -- offers the rights to use core Lotus products on
every campus computer, including student-owned machines, for an incredibly
low per-user annual fee. The fee also includes Lotus authorized help-desk
support and upgrades. The cost for a campus is determined by multiplying
the total number of full-time equivalent (FTE) students, faculty and staff
by the application fee of the product group chosen -- Desktop products,
Communications products or Team Computing (a combination of both).
Available on a three year-contract basis, the program allows schools to
anticipate the cost of software and plan their budgets accordingly. Per
user licenses are priced from $1.50 to $6.50 each, depending on the school
size.

* Volume Purchase Option -- provides volume discounts to cost-effectively
manage uncertain future growth rates. The Volume Purchase Option features
a low initial order point with increasing discounts as the volume
accumulates.

* Contract Option -- is targeted for schools with more fixed growth
forecasts. The Contract Option allows institutions to forecast software
and upgrade requirements for a two year period, and then receive the
discount associated with their total projected volume beginning with the
first purchase.

Availability and Systems Requirements

Lotus SmartSuite for Windows is available immediately. The Lotus Word
Pro/1-2-3 bundle will be available as early as July 1995.

System requirements for SmartSuite for Windows are an IBM PC or compatible
(386 or higher) running Microsoft Windows 3.1 and a Microsoft compatible
video adapter (VGA or higher resolution). A minimum of 4MB of RAM is
required to run a single SmartSuite application; 6MB of RAM with a 6MB
permanent swap file is recommended when performing integrated tasks
involving two applications. Systems requirements for the Word Pro/1-2-3
bundle are estimated at a minimum 386 IBM PC or compatible with 6MB RAM.
