INFORMIX HOSTS LARGEST-EVER WORLDWIDE USER CONFERENCE

How to Maximize Performance with Informix Database Technology

SAN JOSE, Calif., (July 17, 1995) -- Informix Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:
IFMX), the leader in parallel processing database technology, will host
more than four thousand new and existing customers and partners from
around the world at its fourth- annual Informix Worldwide User Conference
and Exhibition. The four-day event, which opens today at the San Jose
Convention Center, is the largest gathering of Informix customers and
partners in the company's history.

The conference will include 92 outside speakers and 64 Informix
representatives conducting more than 100 sessions and tutorials designed
to help users take advantage of Informix technology. More than 100 of
Informix's key business partners and value-added partners (VAPs) will
exhibit the latest Informix-based solutions and services, including 16
companies participating in an INFORMIX-NewEra Partner Pavilion.

"This year's outstanding attendance and partner participation is a direct
reflection of Informix's increasing market momentum fueled by the success
of INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server and the growing acceptance of
INFORMIX-NewEra," said Phil White, Informix's chairman and CEO. "Our
customers know that only Informix provides database technology that grows
as their businesses grow. Our user conference is a great opportunity for
our customers to learn how to put our database technology into action from
the workgroup level all the way up to the enterprise."

In accordance with this year's conference theme: "Maximize Your
Performance," Informix will unveil INFORMIX-OnLine Extended Parallel
Server (OnLine XPS), the newest product based on the company's parallel
processing database architecture: Dynamic Scalable Architecture (DSA), at
the conference's general session on July 18. The company will also
introduce a new version of INFORMIX-NewEra, an object-oriented
client/server application development environment. Users at the conference
can also expect a World Wide Web-related announcement with a new Informix
partner. In addition, more than 25 Informix partners are expected to
announce new and enhanced partnerships and support for Informix's new and
existing products during the conference.

Marc Andreessen, vice president of technology and co-founder of Netscape
Communications Corporation, as well as co-developer of the NCSA Mosaic
browser for the World Wide Web, will deliver the conference keynote
address.The conference will also feature an industry analyst panel with
database experts, Herbert Edelstein, president of Euclid Associates;
Jeffrey Tash, president of Database Decisions; and Colin White, president
of Database Associates.

Conference attendees will be able to choose from six conference tracks:
Advanced Technology for Application Developers, Advanced Technology for
DBAs, Business Management, By Popular Demand, Industry Spotlights, and
Technology Trends.
