FutureVideo's EditLink AV Achieves Breakthrough In Audio-for-Video Post
Production Productivity

ALISO VIEJO, CALIFORNIA, USA, 1st July 1995----FutureVideo has brought the
audio and video post-production worlds closer than ever with its new and
very affordable EditLink AV range. These audio-for-video post-production
systems enable users to create professional soundtracks without the need
of an entire audio-post team.

EditLink AV is an integrated hardware/software system for PCs comprising an
easy-to-use Windows-based software package, plus a powerful EditLink 2110
controller card. EditLink AV bridges the various incompatibilities which
have historically divided the audio, electronic music, and video
industries. The systems provide precise time code synchronization and
dubbing (up to 32 tracks) of digital audio media (tapes, MIDI files, Wave
files, CDs) to videotape. A variety of transports (VTRs, ATRs, CD Players)
from different class levels are supported. VTR (SVHS, Hi8, MII, Betacam)
control is via RS422A (9-pin), Panasonic Control-M (5-pin), and Sony
Control-L (LANC). ATR (ADAT, DTRS, DAT) control is via RS-422A (9-pin)
communication as well. EditLink AV's built-in MIDI driver provides
Sequencers and other MIDI devices with the ability to also control the
aforementioned transports. SMPTE to MIDI time code conversion enables
Sequencers and Digital Audio Workstations to synchronize with tape
transports. EditLink AV Studio also provides MIDI control over selected
audio mixers.

EditLink AV's advanced sound scripting capabilities manage the entire
audio-for-video process from start to finish. The software addresses each
of the typical audio postproduction phases (spotting, laydown, sweetening,
mixdown, layback) in a highly-intuitive manner optimized for both speed
and creative flexibility.

According to Stephen Godfrey, FutureVideo's Vice President, "A professional
quality soundtrack is absolutely critical to a project's success. We were
convinced that the process to create it could be made much easier, less
costly, and dramatically more accessible. We were equally convinced that
one user could do it all. We challenged our engineers to design a such a
system. . .one which would address the diverse user styles of Sound
Editors & Mixers, Composers, and Videographers. . .one which would empower
these various user groups--creatively and competitively--as never before.
They did. And the result is EditLink AV."

Regarding Videographers, Mr Godfrey noted, "Given the segregation which has
traditionally existed between the audio and video worlds, Videographers
are often confronted by a 'lose/lose' proposition--incur extra expense
(and less profit) by taking the audio portion to an audio-post house or,
saddle the client with an awkward mix of 'nat sound' and background music
cobbled together in-house. EditLink AV enables Videographers to create and
deliver a product that is truly professional in all respects."

FutureVideo offers three EditLink AV systems. EditLink AV Studio is the
'top of the range', with a suggested price of US$2295. For musicians
heavily involved in scoring for film and video, EditLink AV Composer lists
for US$1795. EditLink AV Pro is the 'entry-level' and lists for only
US$1295. A factory-upgrade path enables users to enhance their systems as
needed.

FutureVideo also manufactures the acclaimed V-STATION range of
auto-assemble A/B Roll videotape editing systems for Windows and
Amiga/Toaster applications. The company has been an award-winning pioneer
in audio & video post-production systems since 1986.
